what happened Aubies? Was he (Burton) expected to play a big role in the offense?

He did well in the spring, but the fall depth chart wasn't as kind to him. Not sure if that is why he left or not, though.

Buried on the depth chart in 2015, but was expected to compete for a starting spot in 2016.

He wasn't going to be a big contributor this year, besides maybe special teams. No info on our end. This was pretty out of the blue. Most are suspecting playing time as the most likely reason.

Had a very bright future. Was probably a year away from being a main contributor. Not word on why he left but stinks to lose a quality guy like that. My hope is that he got passed by Slayton & Davis (true freshman WR) and is leaving to get PT somewhere else. Ryan Davis made the 2 deep so that might have contributed to it but I'm just guessing

Kid had talent. Sucks he got buried on the depth chart but it is what it is. He will land on his feet somewhere

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn called the departure a "mutual" decision between the coach and Burton. Malzahn said the Tigers will move receivers among the three main spots to compensate for the departure.

In all honestly, I think one of Auburn's selling points over Alabama is playing time. It's like Alabama players go into it knowing that it may be a long-arse time before they see the field. AU players seem less prepared for this as evidenced by all of these departures from 2nd and 3rd string players. You just don't have that mass exodus of Bama players when they aren't starters by their sophomore year.

A mutual decision the week play starts sounds like a discipline issue. Why not ride the bench and get practice reps if you are looking to transfer?

I heard he was missing practice time due to personal stuff. Didn't sound like a typical disciplinary issue, but not sure.
