I remember working with a consultant who played a lot of amateur rugby. His face was a mess.

Total respect for rugby players.

BTW I buy in to the thesis that the S&C Coach has just as much or more impact than a DC or OC.

This would make a huge impact in control at least. Some money up front the rest at the end if you accomplish a series of benchmarks.

They can but no one has the balls to do it and unless all teams do it players will just go where they get the best or easiest deal.
