When you make 12, 13 and 17 3s in a game there isn't exactly much need for coaching adjustments. Auburn got hot down the stretch shooting and they went on a run. They make an average of 12 3s a game over their last 10 games. So, if Bruce can make adjustments to making a historical # of 3s a game then Auburn should be in good shape in future tournaments.

Another sign you do not know what you are talking about. Those threes were made available because Bruce designed his offense to go down low to two Power Forwards, or have the Guard (Harper) drive to the basket. When that was defended by the defense collapsing on the players in the paint, it opened up some wide open threes. This could have been a repeat of that Offense, but AUs Guards were incapable of taking it to the basket for a easy layup and the other two Guards were not a threat from the outside. Smith at 6'10" was their best outside shooter, but his role as the 4 took away from a game in the paint by having him go out toward the arc.

And yet, he let those 2 guards take the majority of the shots in the 2nd half and never adjusted the offensive plan one bit. Never ran anything to get Jabari easier looks. Never tried to do anything at all other than the same free wheeling player dominated offense that he's run for 20+ years now. Just kept letting Jabari shoot step back jumpers from 22 feet and KD Johnson and Wendell Green take 30 footers or iso 3's or wild runs to the rim.

I'm sure it's somebody's fault but clearly not the players or Bruce's. Maybe the NCAA or COVID or something.

Smith was double teamed or at least shadowed by Defenses the last 10 games. Smith can hit anything when he gets the ball facing the basket. Defenses forced him to get the pass with his back facing the basket. He hasn't developed a turn around jumper yet (he will in the NBA). Kessler does not have a short jumper when his back was to the basket and teams force him out to get the ball. Bruce had few other options if one of his three Guards could not score. Most people want to blame the 1 or 2 for the problem. The biggest issue was he had Flanigan playing the 3 and having Smith as the 4 away from the basket toward the arc. Again, Bruce's only other option was to play Williams instead of Flanigan, but that was a hit or miss.

That is bullshite. Bruce is not a flavor of the month coach. 4 Sweet 16s, 2 Final 8 and 1 Final 4. There are three legit coaches in the SEC and Bruce is one of them.

This will sound weird, but I didn’t think we played that poorly outside of not making shots. We had a lot of good looks that just didn’t drop. Kessler had a bad day and Jabari was visibly frustrated with his shot.

Proud of this team even though it didn’t end like we wanted. We really just needed another 40 percent 3-point guard to take this team over the top

Not really. They are just pissed that I have shown them that Oats was a FOTM Club member hire and they think they can convince other posters that Bruce was also. They are too stupid on BB knowledge to troll anyone.

Wow, you seem pretty angry at the FOTM roll the ball out and let KD Johnson and Wendell Green cook game plan that Bruce brought to the gym last night.

Last night wasn't really a continuation of our going cold over the last 45 days IMO, it was a separate collapse altogether. That's the most frustrating part for me. We were on borrowed time in the tournament (like in 19) because we'd just peaked too early and were consistently struggling. But I think unlike in 19 we were good enough to grind out some wins, and given the road ahead that could have taken us to the E8.

Credit to Miami though, I'm not convinced that if we were just playing our late Feb type game we would have won, but it would have been more competitive (and I think that type of game could have gotten us a W against ISU too).

A big difference last night over the previous games was the inability to finish a layup. It was there all night, but could not finish. Most of the threes were uncontested, but that has been a longtime issue. Miami just took Smith out of the game, if he had hit some of his early shots, they would have played AU differently. I think the plan was to have Smith take Miami out of their Defense by shooting often. Guards had problems getting the ball to him and he couldn't hit a turn around jumper.

No, just have read so much from the Cult to know when they are trolling and when they are serious. Even the trollers show their dumbass side. See SOGs recent posts.

Yes, it was a fun season overall, but you aren't going to get many chances to go to the elite 8 beating a 15,10 and 11 seed. Another game where a lack of experience was obvious from the jump.

I've asked you this question once today, but you didn't want to respond, so I'll ask again. Why do you think that they missed so many shots at the rim?

I can tell you have never played BB at any level. Missed contested layups are caused by lack of concentration , just like missed FTs.

I played and/or coached for 30 years. Ask any front court player with higher level experience about playing around the rim in a loosely refereed, physical game when every shot's contested and very few whistles are blown, and he'll tell you that there are NO bunnies!
Also, as the game wears on, you start expecting to get a body shot and/or slapped on your shot, and you lose your shot rhythm.
