Not the first time a Defense played them that way. First time both had off nights. Smith's shots were not missed due to pressure, it was due to the style of the shots he took. A turn around jumper is not his best shot. When his feet are set toward the basket he is automatic.

And why do you suppose he was having to take that "style" of shot?

Auburn could have made the Elite 8 by just beating three double digit seeds in a row. It was there on a platter... easiest path you're ever going to see. Blowing that opportunity is going to hurt beyond just getting bounced early.
truly the easiest path Ive ever seen for a 2 seed. Hell for any seed.

Damn, what don't you understand? Teams had started to double team Smith and forced him to get the ball with his back to the basket. Miami didn't do any different. Smith had an off night shooting and for the fist time he and Kessler had bad nights. No more in his face defense than previous teams. You are trying to make it out as some great coaching strategy, it wasn't. If he had any help from the Guards, AU could have run away with the game , but they didn't.

No they didn’t. It seems just yesterday AU was full of themselves and celebrating their “weekly ” #1 ranking and already planning their NC parties. Too bad. How the “ mighty” have fallen. Maybe they really weren’t that good after all. lol

1) Why do you think Smith had to take that "style" of shot?
2) Why do you think Kessler was not able to get his normal "back-down" shot or the lob pass from a driving guard?
Because they had an "off" night?
Read my lips:
The defense took them completely out of their "GAME"!!

You must have slept through the last month. This is how the started defending Auburn. It made for close games.
1. They started to double team Smith. Only dumbass coaches who played AU twice and allowed him to beat you on the wing with his jump shot. I can only think of one that allowed it to happen twice. Teams started to play him tighter out near the arc and not allow him to set up toward the basket. Miami wasn't the first.
2. Because teams forced Kessler in the paint and away from the baseline. When Guards would drive to the basket Defenses had a defender between the basket and Kessler. He still go the ball inside but his short jumper is not his best shot. Again, teams have played him that way recently.
When both Smith and Kessler were off their game, AU did not have another option. My guess you haven't watch many AU games this year, except the two wins against Bama.

Are you really this simple?
You're basically verifying what I said in my last post!
An "off-night's arse!!..again, They were taken out of their game!
And O' yeah!...bringing Alabama's team into the thread really does blow your skirt up, and shows your bleeding vagina!

I amazed at how big of a dumbass you really are. I first thought it was just a shtick to frick with other posters.

If you watched more than those two Bama games, you would know that Smith and Kessler have both had off nights. This was the first time both were off (3-22). And nobody took up their slack. I suggest you quit embarrassing yourself with your basketball knowledge ( you have already done it in other areas) and go over AUs box scores this year. Watching Sports Center before you go to bed is not really a source of knowledge, by that time I am sure the 10th Natty Lite has kicked in.

YOUR TYPICAL M.O.:
1) Deflect from having to answer a real post by attacking the poster personally.
2) Flood the end of your post with :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Do yourself a favor, and read what the other posters(Auburn fans incl.) say/think about you. Maybe it'll get you to do a self-inventory...for your sake.

Deflect? :rotflmao: I gave you a complete answer to your dumbass and ignorant statement. You are the one whose only response is attacking the poster. You have no clue about your comments and you are using the score of the game to justify your ignorant comments. You have no idea how the game is played and what led to the score. Your blanket answer is the team that scores the most has the better coach. You never used that with Gus and his victories over Saban.

Good defensive play can take any basketball player out of his game. Auburn absolutely QUIT when they realized they couldn't beat Miami's defense. And why on earth Pearl took the only player making shots during the game off the floor, was a baffling decision by Pearl to me. Unless he was in foul trouble (which I don't recall) he would have never came off the floor. You can ride a hot shooter to a win.

Ummm.....Show me where I mentioned ANYTHING about ANY coach is this thread.
You said Smith and Kessler simply had an off night, and I said that the Miami defense took them out of their game. Hell, even you said that Smith wasn't taking his "normal" shot and Kessler had to resort to a short jump shot which wasn't his forte.
You're taking yourself further and further into the abyss with each post you're making on this thread!
Just go back and READ this exchange of posts over the last couple of pages!...hell, ask someone else to critique it! STOP EMBARRASSING YOURSELF!

No. Kessler and Smith were 3-22 with most being very good looks. If some of those shot fall, it would be a totally different game and would open other parts of the game. His use of Williams was the biggest question, but nobody knows his endurance or his abilities on the other end of the floor against a quicker player. Bruce demands Defense first and AU played decent D most of the game against 3 pt shoots and Defensive rebounds. Miami had too many easy short shots. But I agree Williams should have been playing instead of Flanigan the last month.
