I don’t like the hypocrisy coming from the FOTM CEO. At times it makes me doubt this program’s legitimacy, but I know you can still sell me on it.

Perhaps he can win us all back by posting the criteria and his list of FOTM coaches so we can get a better idea of his processes.

Like I said, three SEC Coaches with a true proven record. Your boy followed the success of Bobby Hurley and then feel into the talent left behind by Avery Johnson. How they made the NCAAT this year is still a head scratcher. Poster Child for FOTM Club.

Just a reminder that the SEC is a football conference. Basketball is a side show.

His 2 best seasons at Buffalo were years 3 and 4

I guess Bruce Pearl followed the success of Tony Barbee in years 4 and 5. Makes sense.

Well, fortunately, he's about to fall into some more talent next year. FOTM Club Poster child out here going to NCAA Tournaments every year and signing Top 3 classes.

Congrats on last night. A true coaching clinic by Bruce letting 2 insane guards gobble up all the shots and never adjusting to a single thing Miami did. Legendary stuff.

Not hypocrisy. I have said AU was the worst program in the SEC before Bruce arrived. It had been neglected for years. Schools who ended up hiring the FOTM Club Members had a big leg up on the rest of the league, but refused to go after a legit proven HC. That was my complaint for a few teams in the SEC and especially Bama. It looks like this round of hires are trying to improve on that, we will see when the dust settles.

Yes, Georgia hired a bonified coach in an actual FOTM poster child in Mike White, Missouri hired a mid-major coach and LSU and South Carolina are fighting it out for a coach from Murray State.

Kind of like when Tennessee hired a FOTM coach from UWM. Or Florida hired a FOTM coach from Marshall. Or Miami hired a FOTM coach from George Mason. Or Villanova hired a FOTM coach from Delaware.

There were certainly no 2022 Miamis in the 2021 NCAA Tournament

The Tournament is always about matchups. I knew the last month that AU would have matchup problems with many in the NCAAT because of the Guard play and production from the 3 in their Offense. It proved true last night, I thought they might get by Miami by playing good Defense. AU missed 13 layups last night and had 12 total from their leading scorers. Nobody in the SEC has slowed them down like that. Again, bad matchup.

Especially when a FOTM coach can't make in-game adjustments, which is one of your big criteria.

Why do you think that was?

Like I said we will see when the dust settles. The rumors of LSU hiring a big name is circulating now. FL can get away with a FOTM Club member because of where they are located and UGA is a sleeping giant based on the same. They others are still getting an upgrade with their FOTMC Member.

You mean a coach who beat Kansas, UNC and UK in three straight NCAA Games?

Florida has had one and hasn't been getting away with it at all - they were closing in on firing him

Georgia has had one for the last 2 decades and hasn't won anything and just hired another one

What are you talking about

2019 was quite a year for hot runs in basketball and football that are, with time, proving to be very much one hit heat check wonders.

When you make 12, 13 and 17 3s in a game there isn't exactly much need for coaching adjustments. Auburn got hot down the stretch shooting and they went on a run. They make an average of 12 3s a game over their last 10 games. So, if Bruce can make adjustments to making a historical # of 3s a game then Auburn should be in good shape in future tournaments.

He was a FOTM Club member and it proved out with his record. He is just another coach riding the coattail of his successor. He did take them to the Elite 8 his second year, which bought him some time.

At UGA he will have a lot of talent to choose from and doesn't have to show immediate success. UGA is the most underachieving program in the SEC, sounds a little like their football team. That being said they do have a Final 4 appearance.

One hit wonder ? 4 Sweet 16s, 2 Elite 8s, 1 Final 4. 2 SEC Regular Season SECC, 1 SECTC in the last 4 years. You do not even believe half the shite you write.

Why are you quoting stats from UWM and Tennessee that happened 10+ years ago?

Because that is part of his resume and what defines a FOTM Club member. When he was hired by UM and UT he was a FOTM Club member, when he was hired by AU he had progressed to a proven commodity. The FOTMC is a risk, some will break through and find success, most will just fade away. Big time programs with big dollars should not go after those type coaches. The SEC Schools should throw big money at any coaching hire due to the SECN Money. Big money should be associated with big names.

Next year will be a new year and that is that. Have fun imagining otherwise.
