Everybody forgets the close calls as time goes on. That's the nature of the sport. As a Bama fan, I never even consider how close we were to losing to Tennessee had Cody not blocked two kicks in the 4th. It's just laziness for us to pretend like the national champ couldn't have been anybody else in a given year.

That being said, I don't ever remember a team improving in the course of a year as much as auburn did. As much as some of their fans make me want to disrespect them, I can't disrespect the heart of their team last year.

When we played, auburn had no real identity and lsu was a far and away better team. Those are the facts.

As for your two miraculous plays from loaing 4 games is wrong. We were just flat out a better team than Bama. They had 160 yards passing on two plays from their one but that isn't luck because they are bama. We were tied with them trying a very stupid play at the end weren't prepared for something we tried.

As for UGA, Murray didn't score on one drive and we should have had more points but they took a play away from us that would have put us inside the 5 and we ended up kicking a field goal. The last play was absolutely dumb luck but we shouldn't have been in that situation.

Yall beat us straight up. It happens, but our guys seemingly never gave up and it was a sign of good qualities about our team that took us on to have a special season.

I agree. I came out of that game very impressed with Auburn. I knew they were going to be a tough out for anyone.

I think LSU beat us the one time we played.

I also think AU improved over the course of the season and LSU probably had more injuries and such to deal with during November and December.

We won some close games as every SEC champion since 1992 has done. We were not undefeated like Bama 92/09, AU 04/10 or UT 98
- the big 3.

Not really. We were pretty even. Y'all just made more plays in the 4th quarter when it mattered.

Rain is more beneficial to the team who prefers to run, so I don't buy the weather excuse. But to be fair, Auburn started running the ball a lot more after that game. Auburn would have gashed LSU late in the season. LSU struggled stopping the run straight up the middle all year, something Auburn is the best in the nation at.

Great season Auburn

It was the key game in Auburn's season. The coaches figured out how to better use their personnel as a result of that game.

AU was a different team early in the year vs late. Early AU was not top 25 and very average. Late AU was borderline great. No team in the country was going to beat AU 2/3 by December. Yeah AU lost to FSU, but that FSU team was considered one of the most talented ever going into the game and AU dominated FSU statistically. While you talk about the plays that went AU's way, at the same time any of a half dozen plays in the NC game do not go FSU's way, AU wins.

As for 35-21... stiff dew.

So basically this is South Carolina and Missouri on a much larger scale (for Auburn anyways).

Interesting.

Five more passing yards and 15 more rushing, lets not pretend it was one sided as far as production. A few key plays won this for LSU despite the 14 point difference. Like most AU/LSU games.

I don't see the similarities. Missouri jumped way out in front, South Carolina made a remarkable comeback, and won in OT. LSU jumped way out in front, and held on to win by 14 points.

I agree completely. I never claimed domination or anything like that. The game was very evenly matched. I just take exception to Auburn fans that chalk it up as a fluke.

Probably should have clarified. South Carolina fans brag about beating Missouri, while Missouri played for hardware. It's interesting seeing LSU fans do the same to me.

One of the few level headed post by a Bama fan that I have seen about the game. Instead of trying to claim it was just luck.

As for the OP LSU won. Its as simple as that but its also nice to know that beating us is what LSU fans hang their season on.

You got trolled. Just stop already with that. Many Aubs jumped on the stiff dew because we knew it rustled up the masses. Did it effect AU? yes, but we got beat by the better team that day.

Auburn made some errors as well, but that is a part of the game. As an Auburn fan I saw a fighting attitude that had been missing the year before. The loss ended up not hurting us from making it to the BCS game, but was a game the coaches, players and fans look to as a moment of confidence building and improvement happened rapidly after that game.

Nobody said they wouldn't. But the OP was trying to show how AU could have lost 4 games. You can do that for any BCSNC, and in LSUs case that year it was just as easy.

LSU fans are so obsessed with this game because they beat the eventual SEC champs and almost national champs. When they bring in the lucky play argument it reinforces their opinion that LSU was just as good if not better than the SEC champions, which is just as good as winning the trophy.
