re: Bruce Pearl, Coach of the Year

A lot of the criticism of Pearl this year reminds me of the criticism of Saban in 2007. At the time, I imagine that many people were just as cynical about how well Saban would do at Alabama. I'm not saying that the outcomes are going to be similar, and I don't see Pearl and AU playing for a national title (or even an SEC title) anytime soon. But the shortsightedness of the criticism is similar.
Of course he still wishes he was still at Tennessee. "I wish I hadn't lied to the NCAA, lost my job, and been banned from coaching for four years." What's what wrong with that?

If you know anything about working in academia, you'd know that (department politics aside) almost every SEC school would be a great place to work and tenure-track positions are anything but easy.

Not unless Cam Newton has eligibility left.

IIRC, we were in the chickfila bowl in atl and Boom asked for more than his usual allotment for his family. He has a bunch bc he is from the area. I think he got 12, but wanted 20 or something like that. JJ told him no. Muschamp called his agent and said get me out of here after the bowl game.

I have a hard time believing this. An athletic director lost a DC over $1600 worth of tickets?
I don't really know how much he had on him. I only said 8-10 grams because of the discussion about Marshall that occurred yesterday.

8-10 grams
By now, everyone probably knows about the kid who pulled out a baby alligator to signal his commitment to Florida. A few years ago, a kid revealed a (rented) baby bulldog when he committed to UGA.

How would you do it if you were committing to your favorite team? The other SEC teams?

Gus is a flash in the pan type coach, don't know how people can't see that.

He's good for a 2-3 year run then will peter out. That's why he jumps around.

But I'm enjoying his anointment among the cfb greats.

High school, OC (Ark.), OC (Tulsa), OC (AU), HC (Ark. St.), HC (AU) isn't "jumping around," it's moving up. Quickly.
If Auburn and Arkansas were trading coaches then I think it is pretty clear that the game against Auburn would have been a W for the Hogs.

Alabama has houses that are larger and nicer than some academic buildings.

Goddamned condo developments are making this a thing of the past.

Malzahn is probably the guy that Don Draper beat up at the end of last season.
As soon as I clicked submit I felt like the kid in class who answers the easy rhetorical question.
My first guess is that this is a picture from an official (or unofficial) visit he took to AU when he was in high school.
