If after WWII you didnt win the AP, UPI/Coaches, BCS or CFP you didnt win the national title.

Losing at home by two touchdowns is un-good. A bigger indictment of that team, IMO, is their winning 5 games by a touchdown or less.

The weirdest thing is that I know several older die hard Bama fans that think this was an absolute screwjob and Miami had no business winning the title over us.

This is all on Auburn. If Auburn had walked the dog on Michigan in the Sugar Bowl that night, they would have won the NC. They piddle phuccked around and beat a mediocre Michigan 9-7. They did not score a touchdown with Bo Freakin Jackson. 3 field golas. That cost them the title!

No AP or Coaches titles= no national championship.
Which means Bama’s first legitimate NC was in 1961.

You're not wrong. In the poll era (post 1936), those are the gold standard for National Championships. Prior to the poll era, the Rose Bowl was the de facto version of the BCS, pitting their idea of the best teams in the country, which Alabama won 4 times. I don't understand 1941, but I will always contend that sentiment was the only reason Alabama wasn't National Champion in 1945, instead of Army, after the end of WWII.

So AU was going to beat SC in 04, who beat them a combined 47-17 in 02 & 03, including a shutout? AU math at its finest.

What the frick does 2004 have to do with 02 & 03?

Lol they can claim whatever they want. Auburn didn’t win or was recognized by anybody. NCAA doesn’t recognize it anyway.

That depends on what you mean by recognize. I mean I think Auburn has some footnote in a record book for 1983 or something. Basically the same thing that UCF uses to claim 2017. Regardless, if youre not on this list you dont have a legit claim and I would argue after WWII you should only count AP, UPI/Coaches, BCS and CFP

Agreed. If your team is not on that list it doesn’t count.

Strange has LSU has 5 on the list but only claims 4. Might change soon.

Typical DA Bammer who looks at a boxscore and forms an opinion. AU played 5 Top 10 Teams and the last 6 games were against Teams in the Top 15. Probably up until that date, that had never been done. Miami played one Top 10 team and 3 total Top 20 Teams. Nebraska played 2 Top 20 Teams.

You needed a big performance in your bowl game. Instead you squeaked by an average Michigan team and couldn’t even score a touchdown.

Miami beat the #1 team who was said to be unbeatable.
