Damn how long did that Sugar Bowl last? They just voted them champs?

I didn’t know all talent developed the same way.
Clearly, Auburn’s coaching change and player maturation played a part in them being better and more talented in 2004 than in 2003.

We are claiming 1913 and 1993, too. We coming.

Alabama started claiming 1941 in the 80's so I'm pretty sure using time elapsed is meaningless.
I don't agree with claiming '83 but stop comparing your '41 claim to Auburn's supposed '83 claim. Your team came in 3rd in the conference that year.
47 years later was in terms of 47 years after the poll era started(1936)

You're clearly being willfully ignorant or you're just trolling now.

He hasn’t posted since 2018 to my knowledge. At least under that handle.

"Oh yeah, check the NFL careers of the talent on USC an Auburn in 2004. Auburn was clearly the more talented team. It's not debatable. USC benefited from the ESPN hype machine."
That's a pretty dumb argument to make considering USC shutout Auburn at Jordan-Hare the year before.
Speaking of dumb arguments!

Lost at home by double digits to Texas. Yikes.
as opposed to 2003 LSU losing by 12 at home to a Florida team that finished 8-5 and ranked #24

It was in September. Not like losing at home in November and then getting a mulligan to play for a NC. Or losing to AU by double digits and not even winning your division and getting into the playoffs.

Half of your "claimed" NC's are in years where five or six other schools could also "claim" them. :rotflmao:

Back when the Big 8 conference existed and its champion (almost always Nebraska or Oklahoma) was locked into the Orange Bowl, what a disadvantage it was to have to play Miami and Florida State in their home state, if not their home stadium, pretty much every year.
If those games had been played in some freezing arse cold midwestern city in the Big 8 footprint, I think the Huskers and Sooners might have won a couple more titles.

Alabama is still Auburn’s daddy

That and the significant talent gap between the Florida schools and the midwestern schools.

True. Thanks for sending the NC our way.

Not always. Nebraska had a hell of a football team in ‘83 and was better than Miami that year. Oklahoma in ‘87 was as good as Miami and capable of beating them, especially with a healthy Holieway who blew his knee out late in the year. ‘93 Nebraska only lost by 2 pts. to FSU.
Miami tended to shite the bed in bowl games outside of the Orange Bowl in their ‘80s-‘90s years. They lost badly to Tennessee in the Sugar Bowl in ‘85, lost to Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl in ‘86, lost badly to Alabama in the Sugar Bowl in ‘92, and badly lost to Arizona in the Fiesta Bowl in ‘93.
So yes, I do think Nebraska and Oklahoma win anywhere from 1-3 more national titles if they had played their championship games in the midwest in January. Were they better than Miami and Florida State on a year to year basis? No, but the bowl setup didn’t do them any favors and the difference wasn’t as significant as history suggests. If the Orange Bowl had been in Norman or Lincoln or, say, Kansas City, I think they would have been more successful.
