Hard to say, he’s never been a head coach of an NFL team, only the Jets.

Tim Walz isn’t doing anything.

Bama loses to unranked Vandy and drops 3. We drop 8

Bama dropped from #1 to #7 and it was their first loss, not second like LSU.

Bama should have dropped more though.

Updated, forgot they were an SEC team

All indications are that they are not.
Ya gotta have hope…but meth kills.
Hopefully, Napier is out before Kelly. Kiffin is likely to be the choice for replacement of either one, and Kiffin at LSU could get scary for the rest of the SEC.

Don't forget me. I said no as well. Not that I was offered, but neither was Lanning or Norvell.

Is there something that leads you to believe he won’t be able to recruit kids to Alabama other than Brian Harsin being a colossal failure? We’ve seen plenty of Midwest guys come to the southeast and kill it in recruiting. Urban Meyer, Les Miles, hell even Brian Kelly is off to a hot start in 2025

Excellent points. Harsin was recruiting to a broken program, not to the gold standard program. Another Midwest guy who had spent his entire career outside the SEC footprint did somewhat decently when LSU imported him about 25 years ago. Saban I believe was his name. :nana:
Two reasons. One is that Coach Saban thinks it is the optimum time for a week of rest and recovery, and he is a man who believes in structure and consistency. The second is it coincides with his birthday, and he gets to celebrate.

lsu does it because Saban does and they can't help themselves.
Gruden will never leave Knoxville. UT is his dream job.

all 4 are far inferior to RC Slocum.

Well, yeah. While RC's offenses would make Les Miles look progressive, he was one heckuva good coach.

True, but it was a different time for sure. Boring wins are easier to get used to than exciting losses. Slocum was most definitely the highest character coach of the group.

Is Pat Fitzgerald done?

Or can he be rehabilitated and get hired again? If so, how soon?
The most telling thing about this list is that all 4 are far inferior to RC Slocum.
Arky will test the waters before giving Pittman the axe. Gus may be in a better position though.

Did he also melt when the refs clearly missed the interception call that was in fact trapped by the awbarn db? I suspect not, but the INT was a more egregiously bad call.

Are we choosing geographically-based teams like the above parenthetically mentioned? I’d rather not have to watch LSU vs Tulane every year

No restrictions

No sympathy really, but I do hope he moves on to great success after leaving awbarn.

Annual OOC opponent

Currently, a few SEC teams have a rival from another conference they play annually. (UK, UGA, UF, SC)

I think those are the only ones at present. If you were the SEC commissioner and you HAD to assign an OOC opponent for the other members, who would you choose? Feel free to select one for each, or just select for whomever you feel like putting on the spot. Carry on.
Vanderbilt is a distant second behind Alabama, and has been for about 50 years since Steve Sloan was hired as HC there.

#3 would probably be Kentucky because of mutual ties to Coach Bryant. (I haven't yet afforded the same feeling toward A&M, even with the ties between both Bryant and Stallings, but I don't hate them yet either)

#4a/4b goes to LSU and Ole Miss
#6 Arkansas
#7 South Carolina
#8-13 Everybody else in the SEC except awbarn
#14 Everybody outside the SEC and all ships at sea
Bottom of the barrel - awbarn
