Speaking of dumb arguments!

It isn't a dumb argument when you realize what I'm arguing. My argument is you can't use NFL success to judge which team was better.

You can use it to disempower the argument that USC was more talented. The difference in NFL success was noticeable over the first 5 or so years between 2004 Auburn and 2004 USC. USC had a lot of ESPN hype machine created players and made a living whipping lesser programs to support that false narrative of talent abundance.

Half of your "claimed" NC's are in years where five or six other schools could also "claim" them.

That's quite impossible since their are only 2 valid claims for any year past 1936. The AP or Coaches poll.

And since in 1941, the one year Alabama has a bad claim IMO, the Coaches poll didn't even exist, it's still impossible for 5 or 6 teams.

Looks like UF and LSU are the only SEC teams who claim titles the right way.

I don't think Auburn is claiming it now officially, it's just listed as a footnote. None of the Auburn people who run their Wiki page have edited it in yet.

It will not be official until the AD claims it. Something that they refused to do 30 years ago. Now there is a movement to finally claim the Championships that many Alums want them to acknowledge.

it will never be official and any half assed college football fan will know the 1983 national champion was Miami. Auburn would be mocked for 1983 the same as Alabama is mocked for 1941

We already know where Bama Fans fall on this subject.

Not even close. Many college football experts claimed that AU was the best team. The schedule proved that more than anything.

Honestly, it doesn't matter. The entire system is a beauty competition. If 14-16 year old kids think it matters then it matters.
