I fall more into this spot. TBH it seems odd the other way around.

I have two interesting examples.

1. I have known this HS coach for many years. You rarely see him when he is not wearing some piece of Auburn gear. He goes to several home games a year. His undergraduate degree is from The University of Alabama. The kicker: He played baseball at Alabama on scholarship for four years from 1982-1986.

2. I work with Anfernee Jennings's mother. Although she wears Alabama shirts and jerseys, she still carries her Auburn stadium seat with her into the HS ball games. She used to occasionally wear her Auburn shirts, but I haven't seen her wear one of those in a year or two. She does wear South Alabama shirts occasionally now that Shawn has transferred there.

It usually depends on who they grew up rooting for. I have a friend who was a lifelong AU fan. His parents met in Auburn. He and his sister went to Auburn. Then he went to Law school at Alabama. We even hung out a few times at games while he was there. But he's a huge Auburn fan.

And then I have a cousin who grew up a big LSU fan. She lived in Alabama her whole life and went to UA for undergrad and law school, but is still an LSU fan over Bama.

No such thing.

There are no levels of Alabama fandom, you either are or you aren't.

Also, during the Pat Dye days, any Auburn fan that cared to admit it, displayed the "I'ma Dye Hard Auburn Fan" bumper sticker.

No Alabama fan would ever want to draw the same parallel.

I know several.

ETA - Brad Pitt beat me to it, but I was going to mention Jeff Sessions. He's a lifelong Auburn fan, but did his undergrad at Huntingdon and law school at Bama

I grew up a huge Kentucky fan. Doesn’t stop me from talking trash to my parents when A&M beats UK in basketball.

He can cheer for either or some other team.

There is no fan license or test.

You can pull for Bama, AU, UGA, LSU or even Texas or Oregon.

You get to choose.
You don't have to explain.
Just buy a shirt or whatever and act interested.

His allegiance should lie with the program he grew up rooting for.

People who spend 18-20 years being a fan of one team, just to swap teams because of where they spend 2-4 years to earn a degree are complete sellouts, IMO.

As a bama athlete, who didn't grow up a bama fan, get fricked.

In fact i have absolutely no clue why you'd think you've done anything to deserve the right to judge who cheers for these kids.

I have a buddy who is the biggest auburn fan I've ever met (level-headed, and gets along with fans of other schools, but hardcore fan.) Undergraduate and graduate degrees from Auburn, and married to a smoke-show graduate of Alabama.

His kid finished HS last year with grades and test scores through the roof. Auburn offered a partial scholarship. Alabama gave the kid a full ride, and he took it. He was pissed, and rightfully so.

I'm gonna ask him if I can hang out at his house during Thanksgiving this year. The rivalry school thing might be somewhat interesting.

But I really want to look at his wife's T&A.
