We won’t know anything about Hardin for at least three years. People are too impatient.

I think we'll know a great deal about him this time next year. Not to say what he has or has not accomplished by then can't change because it certainly can, but a season of football and recruiting will be a good clue.

Nick Saban's first signing class at Alabama finished #7 in the SEC. And that was before the early-signing period that would have effectively removed 65-75% of players from the pool of available kids to convince last minute to come.
But hey, he's only the greatest recruiting head coach in college football history. Who had already been a SEC head coach and had contacts everywhere. And he finished #7. In the conference.

I think so too. We may not see it in wins and losses, but I'm anxious to see how he develops and uses the players we have. And we'll have a pretty good idea what kind of recruiters this staff has then too.

Joseph Goodman always a try hard, Finebaum wannabe.
Goodman is such a hack. But he is an Auburn grad, I believe.

Yeah I think so too. If the recruiting just isn't there it becomes a matter of when not if he's fired. If the recruiting is there and the product on the field is more consistent from week to week I think Auburn fans will warm up to him pretty quickly and he will be able to stick around for a while.

Your clarity and objective perspective is refreshing. If Harsin gets a couple more high 3* or 4* guys to come in and hits the transfer portal wisely I'd say he did ok under these circumstances. If next year's class looks like this I will put a for sale sign in his yard and ransack his office myself.

My post was not a shot at Harsin, but the general state of our program. That said often times a new coach can generate buzz and excitement and I would argue the Harsin hire hasn't really done that. Especially not with recruits.
I have said before on the AU board 5 years ago we would have definitely been in big trouble, the transfer portal gives us a shot to mitigate some of these issues so it remains to be seen how that plays out.

Goodman went to UAB, he’s a hot take artist/cheap version of Finebaum, but it gets clicks I’m sure.

Yea - I mean per the usual, Goodman wrote that article like he was on speed or something. There were basically 2 very different points inbedded and he just kind of weaved back and forth between them.
(1) "Harsin doesn't deserve a pass for this recruiting class." This point is absolutely laughable and ridiculous. Even if he had blown the doors off recruiting, the odds are adding more than 1 or 2 Top 150 guys is basically zero at this point. The math of available kids unsigned doesn't allow for it.
(2) "Going forward, Harsin has to recruit much better than this or Auburn is in trouble, and Harsin is a bit of a fish out of water in terms of his background." That's definitely true.
However, #1 seemed to be the tone for the entire article, and that's absurd.

What a stupid article by a moronic writer.

Been on the job about three week and will have a top 20 class when everything is over. I think his staff actually did a fantastic job under the circumstance.

#2 is too early TBD but there are known recruiting commodities on staff, he will have nobody to blame but himself if it goes this poorly next cycle

I'm agreeing with a bamer, but yeah #2 he's already recruited better than Malzahn with the time he's had to recruit, even added a RB today and maybe one more
