Only Ole Miss would retire his Jersey and have the speed limit as his #18.

Best SEC finish was 4th.
His best game still lost to the worst Alabama team under Bryant.

Say he was at Alabama with his record he would have been Bryant's worst or 2nd worst qb.

ESPN used to love to show Archie up in the stands when Peyton and Eli were playing. He usually had those goofy, yellow radio/headphones on.

I offered my buddy $1000 to go knock those off of Archies head at the 2001 Egg Bowl. Not real proud of that and all I have to offer to this thread

Maybe QB. Not player.

ETA: And OP isn’t a State fan

I enjoyed in the Manning documentary when they went on and on about Archie playing with a broken arm in the Gator Bowl and how awesome he was, then just moved on without mentioning the final score of the game.

Dak>Archie

Archie made the pro bowl twice. Dak has already once.

Dude, there's more to QB than just the W/L record, considering that you're only 1 of 22 players.

Archie was probably the most snakebit player to end up on teams well below his ability. The Saints he played on may have had the worst OLs in history - his rookie season he was sacked on over 18% of passing attempts.

The loss to Kentucky in 1969 is pretty unforgivable, but that was by 1 point, as was the loss to Alabama.

Manning led his team in rushing and passing and scoring. I doubt he could have done more to get his team to win.

I'm not a fan of the Manning's. They've done great things, but I agree than some hype is too much.

Wasn't Eli's best season 9 wins and a split division title?

Despite coming from an era of complete offensive ineptitude, Archie held the single game yardage record for over 40 years until Manziel broke it.

Looking at the stats, it's easy to say he was garbage but you talk to any fan who watched football in that era and he's always one of the best players they've ever seen.

Archie was athletic as piss. Those Ole Miss teams he played on weren’t the great teams of the 50’s and 60’s. In fact, it wasn’t long after Archie left( a year or so) that Ole Miss fell off the map as a national power and haven’t been close to returning. There is a reason he was on the front of SI, and so highly touted. Archie had a cannon also.

28-35, Auburn?

That's nothing, earlier in the season Archie walked into Tiger Stadium with a broken arm, and walked out with a 17-61 loss to LSU.

That can't be right....

I figured his notoriety came from his sons and they're support for Ole Miss.
