He is now a good quarterback getting better every year while getting better throughout every season. Too much hype.
It is interesting Sark said in an earlier press conference that he wouldn't be surprised to see him come back another year after this year. Made me think there may still be some work needed.

Arch Manning WAS massively overrated.
People then dropped him like a bad habit after the OSU game (and even more so after the Kentucky game), and somehow, some way, by the Texas A&M game, he was UNDERrated.

That’s very fair.
We didn’t ask for that and very few Texas fans thought he was winning the heisman. I said he would be top 4-5 which I think he wasn’t far off as he ended last year on the sec

He'll be what I predicted he'd be when he signed: fine, even good eventually. Never great.
I thought he'd get there faster than year four, so overrated seems appropriate still.

Forget any individual post season award Manning might win, if Texas does not win a National Championship with him at QB, his college career and Sarkisian's coaching will be deemed a failure.

The prevailing opinion on this board was that he was a 3-star prospect who was only rated #1 qb prospect bc of his name.
A couple posters who responded in this thread stated as such in the past. They have now hedged their bets apparently… would be nice if they would man up and own it but who are we kidding…

Sark and his outdated, shitty offense is the problem. Arch would be a clear heisman favorite in a better offense.
We are now in year 4 of this overrated douche trying to figure out how to score from the goal line.

Arch was the clear Heisman favorite preseason last year. Then he took a big dump and was never mentioned again the rest of the season .

For the record, he was the 2nd highest recruit in modern day recruiting for the horns. Second only to Vince Young. Do you think he has lived up to this billing? Also recall, he's had years in the program. A "generational" talent is expected to deliver day 1. So yes, vastly overrated.

As overrated as Manning was at the beginning of last season as a first-year starter, I am starting to think he is being underrated now by people just wanting to hate on Texas or the Mannings in general.
We make fun of him being a "generational" recruit and Texas losing 3 games last year as his first year as a starter as an easy point to poke Longhorn fans, but for some reason we forget that Texas was tied for 21st in the nation in drops, their LG position had a 25% whiff rate for the season (how was that even possible!?!), PFF had them 125th in the nation in pass protection efficiency, were in the bottom of the conference in rushing yards before contact and related advanced metrics and Manning was pressured on 35.6% of his dropbacks. That is just unfathomably bad, looking back at their OL performance.
And yet through all of this, Manning improved throughout the season, and it was obvious he wasn't what was holding Texas back by the end of the season. If I were told those were going to be Texas' stats before last season, I would not have believed you when you told me they only lost 3 games.
His talent isn't going to define his performance this season beyond what what he showed at the end of last year. If Texas can actually block anything in the passing game or in the running game, it will define Manning's season.

No argument here, whornie. AD ran for over 1900 yards his freshman season, we expected greatness and it didn't happen. We can only imagine how much he might have accomplished had he stuck around for 2007 and played with Sam Bradford.

Current records are 1967 Michigan State with 4 top 10 picks, 2004 Miami with 6 1st rounders and 2022 Georgia with 15 overall selections
Simmons, Coleman, Arch and Goosby will be top 10 picks
Wingo, Siani, McDonald and Biles are fringe 1st rounders
Baker, Kanu, Smothers, Raleek Brown, Moseley, Spence and Mascoe will all get drafted
And there are a handful of other seniors that have a chance to play themselves into late round selections
