None of which is his fault. He's overhyped because fans on message boards are obsessed with him.

Nobody said the kid is a bust. He will be drafted and given a chance to play in the NFL for his name alone. What he does with that is up to him. He's certainly not the best in the SEC as claimed.
Maybe he will be worth talking about after this year. He could never, ever live up to the hype

He is a good QB. He is not, was not, and will not be the 2nd coming of Joe Montana.

It’s not fault, but his NIL benefits are a direct result. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.
So it makes me laugh when I hear Sark make comments about media hype being unfair for Arch. Then tamp it down at the time if you really are uncomfortable. Say something about it before it blows up, not after.
And the Longhorn sports media department pumped out that hype with a quickness. They didn’t discourage all the media attention.

no OM fan thought he'd end up in Oxford. It was well known how the Mannings feel about LK.

Calling all Arch Manning haters to show up here. Let’s put your mouths to the test.
I don't hate the kid; he was clearly given way too much hype.
It's not that he doesn't have talent, but rather was treated as a generational one - basically we were being told he was going to be the greatest QB in the past 20+ years.
That's not on Arch; he didn't go around telling everyone he was amazing. Texas fans and the media kept that going.
So he was never going to live up to the hype Texas fans kept heaping on him.

I'll also add that the offensive line issues that meant he had little protection and no run game support last year have been addressed, on paper.
Just watching those highlights I thought two things:
1. Most of the throws were very short (dump offs and screens)
2. The reason they were is that he had pressure almost every snap

He could be the best QB in the country this year and still be overrated. Not his fault at all. The media hype has been outrageous. Last season they just expected him to be incredible as a first year starter. Towards the end of season he looked to find a bit of rhythm

LSU is mad he didn’t end up in BR.
No Manning will ever play for LSU. LSU knew it, but you have to recruit the top player in your state even if you know you have no shot at signing him because of PR.

He was borderline elite to close out last season.

Why would they? it helps recruiting. Perhaps if people weren't obsessed with every thing he does then he wouldn't be in the news every 5 min.
don't blame media or AD. Blame yourselves for giving them the clicks they so desperately want.

We’ll see if his footwork has improved and if he’s still throwing sidearm because his shoulder pads are too big.
That alone directly led him to being the worst QB in the SEC in passes from 1-10 yards.
His road schedule this year will be far tougher than last year and Texas was already dog shite on the road in 2025.
If they lose to Ohio State in Week 2, it’s going to get really interesting, really quickly.

Yet you believe LSU fans thought he was coming to BR?

I was in the "overrated" camp when he was coming out of high school due to the level of his competition.
His pedigree is undeniable, and there's likely no kid that's had more hands-on, and relevant teachers at the QB position that he's been fortunate to experience.
I don't think overrated is fair anymore - it's more over-hyped. It's not his fault, it's his birth surname and the media. He does have an elite QB teacher in Sark (like him or not). He will likely perform at an elite level this season.

Blame ourselves? It was force fed 24/7.
If you don’t like expectations then tell everyone you shouldn’t be ranked preseason #1.
Why would they discourage it? To avoid looking like they pumped him up unfairly.
The NIL deal also plays into the hype.
Can the AD not control that?
I agree it helps recruiting. But crying about expectations is weird when expectations is what helps with recruiting.
Didn’t the Longhorns proclaim they were the saviors of the conference?

when exactly did this happen? give me some links. I certainly don't remember this.
and yes, the haters are driving the media attention to Arch. Everyone is rooting for him to fail because of his last name. That's not his fault.
I've been impressed by how well he can ignore the noise and focus on getting better. That's all I care about. I don't care how much attention he gets.
unfortunately, he doesn't have the right coach to be the best he can be. Sark is a fraud, as most of you know.

He played much better toward the end of last season. Without looking at stats, my perception is he scrambled for a lot of yards the latter half of the 2025 season.
Sark should let his scrambling to open up pass lanes, but neither of them are great.

It was on this board, last year.
So it was from the fans, not official AD announcements.
Not sure if the search button will find it.
But you can try:
Kings of the SEC and
Saviors of the SEC

That's right, so there's no need for any team on our schedule to prepare for him.
