You actually have it backwards. Manning is an elite QB. Coleman has never had one of those, to make him look good

The number of aggie fans signed on to listen to Texas practice reports this offseason has been funny to watch.

Really just looking for those willing to make predictions about Manning’s second season knowing what they know about him after year one
Many on this board (and several on this thread) have labeled him overrated and projected him a bust (I could quote posters who have responded to this thread as calling him the “most overrated player” in cfb history)
Where are you at now?
A) legit top 5 pick, about to go off on cfb world
B) Solid cfb QB1, somewhere among top 25 qbs in the country
C) Mostly hype from name, a lot of guys could do what he does
D) failure, I predicted he should have been a three star (< this was last years prediction for a number on this thread)
My personal prediction is A

OU fans and insiders frequently overrate their talent. We have heard this kind of preseason stuff before only for them to go 6-7. Average skill position players across the board (they are calling Parker Livingston a “stud” which should tell you a lot). Their QB is massively over-hyped. Their defense is very solid but elite? No. 8-9 win team.

The prevailing opinion on this board was that he was a 3-star prospect who was only rated #1 qb prospect bc of his name.
A couple posters who responded in this thread stated as such in the past. They have now hedged their bets apparently… would be nice if they would man up and own it but who are we kidding…
Texas fans were never his hype machine.
I will go on record and state that you are about to see a record breaking year
I’m wanting to know how many of those original haters are still out there. Any of you brave enough to back your original “3 star” proclamations?

Calling all Arch Manning haters to show up here. Let’s put your mouths to the test.
Looking for the “he is a 3 star” people. You were very prevalent just a few months ago. Couldn’t stop to tell us all how over-rated he was.
Has something changed or no?
Now is time to say your piece and let’s put it on record.

Best brigade in the ANV was from Texas
Last Confederate State to surrender
Last battle (and last Confederate victory) was fought in Texas
^I think that qualifies at least part of Texas as being “The South” :) Rest of the state though gladly claims “southwest” and cowboy culture

Texas gets more physco-analyzed than any other program
As an actual football program they are no different than any other
The media is hyping them bc they’re good and have been for a half a decade
Last year they were reworking an OL and easing in a new QB to start the year off. The media was hyping them bc of Manning’s name and their past 2 year record (back to back final 4s)
This year they are hyping them bc returning starter QB is among best in county and returning experience is top 5 in country
It’s not complicated, but yet the same stupid BS every year

(Texas fan) who will admit Elko is a pretty solid coach. He’s the exact guy you would want coaching your kid in high school
Sucks that he will be gone from A&M in 1-2 seasons (maybe 3 best case?)…
schedule gift last year led to double digit wins and Ag fanbase can’t handle/rationalize that kind of “success” but it’s bought him some “extension” time (pun intended)
He would do really well at a lot of other programs
Sadly, he will only be remembered as a punching bag (weight jokes) bc he coached at a$m

This is a thread with high bump potential. No fan base in the SEC is going to experience a harder crash than the Sooners. Mark it.
A profoundly average team. But fanbase is convinced of upcoming greatness.
Even as a Texas fan… it kinda hurts to watch… like when you see a car wreck coming and the aftermath… the human side of you aches for the people involved yet your still fixated and can’t look away
Sooners, enjoy cfb while you can and remember how it feels. Y’all going to be real miserable soon.

Lacey is pretty good… he’s been turning heads this offseason. Will be an interesting battle btwn him and Bell next spring (assuming Manning goes pro)
But yes, Texas is likely screwed if Manning goes down considering their schedule

Well some you follow Texas closer than you do your own team. Maybe that has something to do with it. Media is click driven so… do the math

Texas with their 30 titles is swimming, diving, and rowing..
Texas has 71 national championships. 4 of them are rowing. 17 are swimming or diving. Take those away and they STILL have more championships than most anyone else.
Of course if we were doing football titles the way most SEC schools claim…. You could add 11 more titles for football
