Sark is building his staff piece by piece, and he has got some good pieces.

Strong and Herman brought their K-Mart staffs from Louisville and Houston, and we got what we paid for.

This time, it will be different.

Some of you are old enough to remember what it looks like when Texas is serious about football.

Have a nice day.

Hook 'em!

These people.

Sark's head coaching record:

5-8
7-6
7-6
7-6
8-5
9-4
3-2

Seven win Steve!

To be kind, you guys don't know what you are talking about.

You had the #1 class in the country from 2011-2017. In 2018, you had a small class and finished #5.

Seems like you were doing OK before Banks arrived.

I think he's a good recruiter. Our special teams have been solid, but Saban also plays our best players, which means lots of starters, on special teams. Those guys make you look good when a lot of teams are only rolling backup players out there.

No doubt, looks to be a great job by Sark so far.

2018 is literally the reason that Banks and Co. arrived.

Banks isn't gonna win Texas the national title, but he did great work for us in recruiting. I know you guys hate them but it's ok to accept that.

My point is that you guys kicked arse on the recruiting trail for 7 years without Banks on your staff. It wasn't like he was recruiting studs to a mediocre Big 12 program like Texas. He was recruiting for the best program in the country with a long track record of elite recruiting before he arrived.

I think he's a solid recruiter - B+ or so. He spent most of his time on Sumlin's staff running around California. Didn't really bring in anyone of note at A&M

That's a very simplistic way to look at it.

We were starting to lose head to head battles to other elite programs in Texas and Florida and Georgia, and we were starting to lose them much more consistently. It started in 2017 and it blew up in 2018. The landscape of recruiting from 2011-15 was completely different than it was once Meyer got to OSU, Kirby got to Georgia and Dabo got Clemson up and running. We were starting to lose more battles against those schools than we won. The trend lines were down.

We brought in the new staff and they stabilized it in 2019 and then absolute blew the doors off in 2020 and 2021 - and they did it at a time when there were other elite national recruiting programs around (something we didn't face nearly as much in 2011-2015).

LOL - Saban told Sark "You can have Banks and Flood but you gotta take Pete too"

Not that great, just one national championship and a lot of blowout losses to Oklahoma.

Sarkisian doesn't really appear to know anyone that is attainable besides Saban's support staff. Rumor is that Banks told Sark no, went back to Saban, then came back to Texas after that conversation a week later.

In other words he wanted a raise from Saban, and he wasn't deemed important enough. That's the rumor going around the Houston high schools, which certainly isn't good for Texas.

But the media will change the message as needed.

Texas would be better off as a program if some of their boosters just went ahead and died

I’d be more in the wait and see boat. Lots of wasted opportunities over the last half century for Texas.

OL developed

A very crucial component for a successful football team.

I have no earthly idea how Gus couldn't get that.

My belief is it was his system and our OL were not in high demand in the draft minus 3-5 or so. Top OL stopped looking at AU seriously. You can't run any offense without a OL. We didn't develop them well.

I'm sure Saban wanted to keep Banks around, but in terms of allocation of resources I don't think we were willing to give him $1M when we already have Banks around and can pretty easily find another ace recruiter for that spot on the coaching roster.

Well in that case I hope you are right and your recruiting takes a nosedive with Banks departure. I would love to see Bama decline and fall apart as Sabans top coaches and recruiters get raided.

I'm surprised that you let Texas take such an important coach. Perhaps your staff thinks Saban is going to retire?

One thing I love about Jimbo is he doesn't let his best coaches leave for inferior programs.
