This year he pulled 5-star RB Camar Wheaton and 4-star QB Jalen Milroe out of Texas, along with some 4-star receivers.

I love the Texas new coach cycle. Hire an assistant or two off of a championship team, and going to the championship baby! Austin media anoints the savior that will lead them out of the wilderness, and the hype cycle begins. A few years down the line, reality sets in and the Austin media that set up the new coaching staff as Jesus incarnate turn on them for underperforming, and the boosters run them out of town on a rail
Rinse. and repeat. Texas has innate issues that cannot be overcome by coaching. I

I like your ovary endzone.

I could do a hell of a job recruiting for you. Yall seemed to be doing well before Banks and I suspect there will be zero drop off after he leaves.

A lot of sour grapes from the Aggies in here.
Sark apparently thinks he's worth $1 million so he has to be doing something right.

We actually didn't do so good in the couple of years before Banks got there. We had to purge some staff that weren't getting it done in recruiting.

Did he pull them or did Bama / Nick Saban pull them. Would Banks have landed those guys if he was recruiting them to Tennessee or Auburn?

No, Banks and co. (Huff, Scott, Wiggins) came in when we were struggling in recruiting (for us) (losing a lot of battles to the other big dogs) and reset the whole operation. Banks and Scott did major damage in Texas for us. They took our recruiting in state to another level the last 2-3 years.
He did a great job for us.

He is great when everything around him is great. He isn't very good at holding the load by himself. And as somebody else so eloquently put it, ANYBODY could recruit for Bama right now
What we are seeing is that Sarkisian doesn't really know anyone outside of Alabama staff. I hear that Golding is the next target

One million per year for a special teams coach?
Sad when people try to buy a championship.
(It's nice, though, to see the Longhorns embrace a Sumlin disciple.)

Gonna be fun watching Bama beat all of these former Bama guys in Austin in 2022.

To be kind, you guys don't know what you are talking about.
The current crop of assistants came in at a time where we were losing the majority of the elite recruiting battles. Banks, Huff, Scott and Wiggins specifically (along with Golding and Flood) starting winning those battles again and then expanded it even further than we had pre-2018. They did not just show up and keep doing what had been happening. We retooled our staff because the guys we had before were not getting the job done at the level it needed to get done. This group fixed that.
Saban is the greatest recruiting head coach of all time, but even he has to have a solid group of recruiting assistants to keep the train rolling at the peak level it is right now.

You guys had the #1 recruiting class in the country for 7 straight years prior to his arrival. I guess you could call your #5 finish in 2018, not getting it done but you only took 18 in that class.

Yep. Historically the best program ever, pal. That's like saying Ohio State has nothing to with the success of Ryan Day, Jim Tressel, or Urban Meyer. That's ridiculous, and you know it.

Yes, it was not getting it done. That's the point. These guys came in and recruited the highest rated recruiting class in college football history.
They are good at their jobs.

Sark is building his staff piece by piece, and he has got some good pieces.
Strong and Herman brought their K-Mart staffs from Louisville and Houston, and we got what we paid for.
This time, it will be different.
Some of you are old enough to remember what it looks like when Texas is serious about football.
Have a nice day.
