I'm pretty sure that Saban isn't in the least concerned about losing Banks

Well in that case I hope you are right and your recruiting takes a nosedive with Banks departure. I would love to see Bama decline and fall apart as Sabans top coaches and recruiters get raided.
I'm surprised that you let Texas take such an important coach. Perhaps your staff thinks Saban is going to retire?
One thing I love about Jimbo is he doesn't let his best coaches leave for inferior programs.
I don't think Banks is some irreplaceable coach for us, but he did a very good job. Doubt we wanted to allocate $1M to what is basically a recruiter only coach, but Sark probably was willing to do that because he wanted someone he knew and trusted in charge of their in-state recruiting operation.

Okay moon moon.
It's not a hard concept to comprehend.
- Banks good coach and good recruiter, did great job for us
- Sarkisian trusts Banks and is willing to pay a premium for that in a new job
- Alabama will hire new coach who is good at recruiting
Ho hum

Sark is building his staff piece by piece, and he has got some good pieces.
Strong and Herman brought their K-Mart staffs from Louisville and Houston, and we got what we paid for.
This time, it will be different.
Some of you are old enough to remember what it looks like when Texas is serious about football.
Have a nice day.
Hook 'em!
I think Flood is a very good OC hire because essentially he's just going to organize the offense for Sark during the week and keep on doing the OLC duties. Sark gonna call the plays obviously but Flood has been working with him for half a decade now between two stops (Falcons & Alabama). Banks makes a lot of sense because he needs someone who can repair some of the recruiting problems Texas has been experiencing.
I'm not concerned about losing either as a Bama fan because Saban nailed the OLC hire and he will undoubtedly backfill the recruiting losses...guy almost rather have people say he's been outcoached than it be said he was outrecruited.

And you're really bragging about this OP??? WOW how the mighty have fallen EVEN deeper...This post makes you guys sound even more pathetic than when Bama embarrassed you back in 2009..
"if colt 45 wasn't hurt"...
You sound like a little girl...
Nick Saban has broken so many fanbases it's not even funny anymore...
My compassionate side wants him to hang it up because he's killing more souls than Covid... My evil side says "F you, you little b!+ch, keep taking it. The more you whine, the more your gonna get"... Lmao

Texas would be better off as a program if some of their boosters just went ahead and died
Some of them did.
You all know the shite show surrounding the hiring of Charlie Strong & Tom Herman. This is different.
Sark was introduced by the Chairman of the Board of Regents (manages the UT system, ~ 240,000 students and $30+ Billion endowment), the President of the University, and finally, the Athletic Director.
No shite show this time. This is controlled by the University, not just the money.
Don't be confused by the speculation of trolls who really have no idea what is really going on.
Sark was kinda busy til Tuesday morning; he's had a pretty good week so far.

You don’t really think y’all are gonna dethrone big12 daddy do you? What is it , Like 7 big 12 titles in a row now? Come on. y’all have a very long way to go before you’re even on Ou’s level and we all know there’s still a gap between OU and the SEC champion.

I know this will come across as the "this time we're for real!" sentiment, but it really was handled differently this time.
In December 2013, we put all of our eggs in the Saban basket, and once he officially declined, it was panic mode. And the new AD at the time, who would end up not even holding the job for 2 years, had a god awful process for hiring a new coach, which ended up being Charlie Strong.
In December 2016, it's obvious Strong has got to go, but we had a President that was more focused about being an academic (he's now serving the same position at Emery) and an interim AD (formerly associate-AD) that was a nice and likable guy, but had absolutely zero clue how to run a hire like this. If any of you remember - when Texas was replacing Augie after the 2016 spring, they publicly struck out on literally 7 or 8 coaches, 2 of which were in-state rivals. Luckily, Herman kind of just fell in our lap.
This year, there was an actual process, and while everyone originally wanted Urban, Sark has a good resume and credentials post-USC and the sentiment is that he's ready for the opportunity.
Will it work? No freaking clue. Check back in 22 months. But at least it's not another Group of 5 head coach flavor of the month, and at least there is somewhat of an alignment in the assistant coaches (most fans were not on board with Herman bringing his assistants, and were REALLY not on board with Charlie bringing his coordinators)
tldr: People are hopeful Texas is in a good position and they seem like they're committed to spending money for a good staff. Let's see how it works out. They're still far away OU and other power programs, but we'll see if this staff can turn that around.

The vibe I get from the few Ut folks I talked to see this as a bad hire. I disagreed with them. I think they’re a little out of the loop on what winning football is so they don’t know about sark and the sec

And yet you still will lose to Oklahoma and finish 6-6 or in the covid world 3-3.

So what are some of the Aggie fans' thoughts on Sumlin taking over the TE/ST job for Bama? It has already been talked about that he "talked" with Saban in Miami. I know he was the TE/ST coach for Stoops at OU. What are y'all's thoughts on his ability to recruit?

I think Texas has made 3 good hires since Mack Brown was forced out but the problems are not wholly about coaching though I can't put my finger on the specifics on why. I think it starts with recruiting but not wholly "they're not signing good players." I don't think elite defenders want to play in the Big-12 but that affects everyone. I tend to think there is a culture problem that is going to take someone who is truly all-time elite to eradicate. Austin has turned into a rich, mini Silicon Valley town and I think the city culture has permeated the football culture. Too many kids committing to Texas to wear a burnt orange letterman jacket and go to parties. Not enough wanting to put in the work to win burnt orange rings and gold trophies.
That's just an outsider's take. Just don't feel like Texas teams got a lot of fight in them. At least not on a consistent basis.
