I spent some time there a couple of decades ago

5-8 years ago I had a lot of clients in Houston and I spent about a week there every quarter. Hated that town.

I'm certain it's worse than when you were there.

I mean, it's better than Houston. But so are most big cities.

It’s really not

Downtown atl is dull and much smaller. Fewer things to do there as well

Good idea? Hell no. It's beyond stupid, if only for the fact that no SEC East school is closer than a 12 hour drive...Vandy being the closest.

Hell, there are only two West teams closer than an eight hour drive to Houston.

The only large city in the SEC footprint more boring and lame than Atlanta is Houston, and Atlanta is at least a central location for most SEC schools. The only other cities that even remotely would make sense are New Orleans, Nashville, and Jacksonville, but each have big disadvantages geographically as Jacksonville and New Orleans are less centrally located, and Nashville is typically cold that time of year.

Atlanta is simply the most convenient location with an indoor stadium.

I don't care if Houston is a fricking Shangri-La. It's a monumentally stupid idea to have the game a guaranteed 12-16 hour drive from one of the schools playing.

New Orleans or Nashville is a better choice....not that Houston ain't a great place, for Texas, but it is marginally a southern city. More southern than Dallas but compared to Atlanta, Charlotte or Nashville not even close....

Should alternate with Nola.

Nobody wants to play in that shithole.

Most folks who have only spent a couple of long weekends in New Orleans like New Orleans....its a lot like Vegas and the redneck rivierra....seems like a good idea until you spend the 4th day and then you realize how horrendous it really is.....

Why alternate? Let's play it in NO, Dallas, Atlanta...no open air, don't want a repeat of 1992.

Otherwise maybe we could add the Tenn Titans place.

If it goes to Dallas it may as well go to Detroit and Chicago...Dallas is more akin to either than it is to Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville or New Orleans...

Atlanta is a boring city

As a native of Atlanta I tend to agree but that is a big part of the allure....Atlanta is very normal to most middle aged white people in the South. It isn't scary or exotic but it beats the shite out of spending the weekend in the suburbs of Birmingham, for example. Coupled with cheap lodging and air fare / easy drive PLUS, if you are into that sort of thing, some serious food and culture....not on the same scale as New Orleans, for example, but its there if you look for it....Atlanta fits the bill for the average SEC fan. Charlotte is almost identical but most of the SEC would have to travel through Atlanta to get there....

Houston is the 4th largest city in the country--Atlanta is 37th. You wouldn't know it driving through it.

Atlanta metro is 6 million and Houston is close to 7 million...silly just to compare city proper populations.

The vast majority of the folks using those highways don't live in the city.

Houston is the 5th largest and Atlanta is the 10th....aint no telling where 4th and 37th came from....

As opposed to the 13 hour drive from A&M to Atlanta?

If we want to be more centrally located we could host it in New Orleans, but I know that wouldn’t be a very popular suggestion on this board for a lot of reasons

What is the appeal of Houston, other than it being closer to LSU?

Atlanta is a far better city, has a much better stadium and is more centrally located.
