I'm really not sure

My Dad thinks it may be Mal, but I think maybe John David Crow.

I guess #83 didn't get the memo that they were NOT wearing white helmets.

Bryant used to have his receivers wear different-colored helmets from the rest of the team to help them stand out to the QB, until the NCAA changed the rules to require all members of the same team to wear the same uniform.

As much as I hate Bama...their helmets are iconic and should not be changed. The white helmets were generic and not nearly as sharp as their traditionals.

I am old enough to remember Bama in the white helmets. I thought they were pretty cool.

I can understand that people aren't used to it anymore but it was cool back then because nobody else had alternate helmets like that.

No, no and no.

This is Alabama
We dont alternate uni
We dont rush the field
We only wear black shoes
We only wear white socks

These are Bama gospel. Learn them, know them.

That photo is from the Alabama-USC game in Los Angeles n 1971. The QB is Terry Davis. Not sure who the assistant is, but it wasn't Perkins. Perkins was still playing with the Colts in 1971.

He had receivers wear white in one game against Mississippi State in 1965. I've never seen any other photos indicating it was a regular practice.
