Virtually every D1 program lowers their standards for football. These players need to realize the tremendous opportunities that they have been given, and stfu

So the players sweat, toil, break bones and get injuries that will impact their future Health, they also get a debt free bachelor's degree, while the HC gets a $9million salary and an 8 figure buyout, with no room for the Athlete to EVER NEGOTIATE BETTER TERMS, the HC gets to negotiate better terms , but not the Athletes that are raising 98% of that Money, ethnicity is immaterial to this discussion, even if they were all white they'd deserve to get larger Stipends

IF YOU WERE IN THAT SITUATION, there's no way that you would be thankful and just STFU, hell guys like you lose your mind over wearing a mask ---I know you'd raise hell if all you got was a debt free bachelor's degree while the HC got 10 lifetime's worth of Money during your 4 yrs of eligibility

Distribute 50% of each sport’s total conference revenue evenly among athletes in their respective sports.

These players are too fricking stupid to grasp that federal law (Title IX) prohibits this.

Six-year athletic scholarships to foster undergraduate and graduate degree completion.

Further evidence of the stupid part.

This is pathetic. Agreed that the players deserve more, but 50% of the revenue is ludicrous. These players need to take an Economics class and realize the impact across the universities under that scenario.

I think they asked for 50% of the Revenue FROM THE CONFERENCE, NOT 50% of all revenues

Basically 50% of the Revenues from the Conference is half of the TV- Radio money, the Athl Dept would keep all the tickets, parking, concessions, and other ancillary Monies

They DO NOT WANT 50% of all the money that the Athl Dept grosses

How much more?

Only pay for football injuries.
But as long as the injury endures.

Devon Gales is the first example that comes to mind.

They are rare.

That also keeps the rules and refereeing at attention for player safety.

That keeps coaching at attention for player safety (gales lowered his own head)

Most of the posters here would've been happy as hell just to have that opportunity.

And if they werent then they didnt have to play.

If you're Saban or Dabo and you're making $9 Million per year, are you gonna allow things to deteriorate to the club sport Level knowing that a Club Sport cannot pay you $9 million per year?

The power brokers that are making millions will create a system to KEEP THEIR MILLIONS coming in while also "attempting to be more fair economically" to the Players

No sane person is gonna sit back and watch a $9 million per yr gig evaporate based on some out dated quasi racist ideologies of an amateur model

Use some level of reason

Some level of reason? How about you for the first time ever get a fricking clue about the topic you are talking about.

Nick Saban is paid about $200k a year by the school/AD. The rest of the money comes from an organization and is paid by donations from donors.

Last I looked about 30% of Alabama's revenue came from donors.

In many schools, donors are the only reason the programs are even able to exist at all.

As usual you are fricking clueless.

There will have to be some give and take if they're going to get half the revenue. If they get that revenue then their scholarships are reduced to half scholarships and they have to then pay for student housing and their own food.

But i would be willing to bet they want all of that for free still

So let’s give them 50% of the revenue. That means everything but football, basketball and maybe baseball/softball is gone. Now you’re all fricked up on Title IX numbers. So you either add more women’s sports or something else has to go. See how this stupid shite doesn’t work?

This probably wasn't directed at me.

I'm not for the cost of attendance stipends that the players get. That is too close to paying the players for me. And it isnt even regulated in a fair fashion.

I am for scholarship paid housing for athletes with children.
I am for expense reimbursements for athletes parents to attend games.
And I am for strengthening the ties to the university for on field/practice related injuries.

This is what the NCAA gets for starting this bull shite. Allowing players to get paid for their likeness just spurs this kind of shite

Its going to get worse.

How the hell does a female long jumper "negotiate better terms"?

You've never even fricking heard of Title IX, have you? Go ahead and admit it...we already know.

If the players want this, then it is time to stop lowering admission standards for them. I actually want to see college athletics get a total reboot.

Just curious : Pay what man his money ?---every man equally on the team, from long snapper to
that star QB or runner already loaded with
endorsements ?---and if not, what happens to team
morale, or would that even be important any longer ?
---and do we "pay the man his money", only
to men involved in money-making sports ?
And, etc., etc., etc. ?

I have written hundreds of times - pay the 85 scholly FB players + the 13 scholly MBB players enhanced Stipends ON TOP of their full scholly

The enhanced Stipends would be equal for all 98 Revenue Athletes, make it a package deal that comes with the scholly

All stipends would be equal for the 98 guys listed above, if you round up to 100 you're looking at these numbers:

100 schollies-stipends X $60K each = $6million dollars

Simply do what the GOP has done in America and tighten the belt on the welfare sports, the welfare recipients, and then you'll have your money to pay the larger stipends

Oh, are you guys defending welfare in your Athl Depts but not in Society in general?

I agree. Let’s see how many of them qualify based on the admissions standards everyone else has.
