It amazes me that you have opinions but you don’t watch football.

Duke was unstoppable over the first 5 games and took major injuries. At full strength they beat Clemson convincingly.

Aggies trying to convince themselves this is a good hire. They should have just kept Jimbo.

It’s an underwhelming hire. Glad they decided to just accept their mediocrity.

This is who they were wanting to hire to begin with. The fans did at least. But, they were told he wasn't leaving Duke. I have been trying to keep up with them now that my oldest is a freshman there. Many of them felt that the program and Jimbo took a step back when Elko left for Duke.

Call me crazy Sidewalk, but what are the odds of both of them as co-DC’s with Elko calling the plays. He’d need to hire a knock out OC then.

I feel like there must have been stuff going bad behind the scenes. Jumbo must have majority pissed off some people at A&M. I read that many wanted to get rid of his sorry arse after 5-7 last year.

I dont believe that at all. A&M went looking for bigger fish and when none of them wanted the job and stoops said no they got nervous no one else would want the job thus the call back to Elko probably with more money. Remind me again what elko did at A&M as a defensive guy? Dont remember them ever being that great on defense.

Have no idea. My kid is a freshman this year. He left for Duke several years ago. I will say no way I'd pay big money for Stoops if it was me. I'd be as mad as the aggie fans if we try to hire him when Nap is fired. He's someone you don't pay 9 million (what he's making at UK) for. He's someone you'd be okay taking on the cheap. But, not for big $$.

Stoops > Elko.

Elko had success against a garbage ACC. This season he was a miracle win at home against Wake Forest from a 5 game losing streak. His biggest win was his only win ever against a ranked opponent and that was Clemson to start the season. Their ranking was just because they were Clemson. The terrible Clemson who had no QB and were unranked by week 8.

His 2022 season, the one that makes you think he’s great, he was 5-3 in the ACC and played ZERO ranked teams. He got smoked by kansas and barely beat a bad Northwestern.

You all fired a better coach than you just hired & then passed up an even better coach because of trolls. Congratulations.

He was basically the sole reason A&M went 9-1 in the all SEC covid year which is why he got hired away as a head coach. Basically A&M is looking at it as hiring an up and coming DC from within without having the on the job head coach learning curve because that was done at Duke.

Elko is likely to retain more players than Stoops would have. Elko recruited that number 1 class before he left. Elko’s known in Texas, is liked by Texas HS coaches, and knows the school. It was the right hire, not the sexiest hire from an outsiders view point. I’m hearing some staff is going to be retained. Should be interesting to see how he fills out his staff in the coming days.
