aTm donors go scorched earth against Stoops to pick Elko? I mean they are equal at best. If admin wanted Stoops they should have apparently pretended to want Elko first so the donors could expectedly push them into Stoops.

There is nobody A&M could’ve hired that this board wouldn’t have laughed at minus unrealistic candidates like Smart or Saban. You hire Lanning or Kiffin and they are laughing at the money you paid. You hire Elko and they laugh because he isn’t a splash.
It’s a good hire and the obvious hire from the start. We’ll see how it plays out because most coaching searches are a crapshoot.

Honestly, this is a good hire. It makes sense and likely won't have A&M on the hook for an enormous contract. Good on them. I was hoping for someone far worse.

You go on lying to yourself. You’re paying a mediocre coach 9 M a year and aren’t doing anything about it. We’re trying to figure out how to win more than 8 games a year.

Not really. Jimbo was already starting to trend downward at FSU. He was never a homerun hire in my mind.
