Im sorry, but this just isnt true. Alabama is a very pass heavy offense and we drop back in traditional pass pro.
There may be a few teams a year who pull guards or tackles more than 10 percent of the time passing plays but its very rare. UGA may do it more because they are a heavy running offense and use that to confuse the defense.
LSU needed Perkins to be more than a pass rusher and he couldn't do it. They were thin at LB and not thin on the defensive line so they tried to convert him.
It happens. Kiffin was raving about Perkins off the edge after the LSU played Ole Miss his freshman year.
Mistakes were made.
Perkins is going to be in the game when the offense is in shotgun with single back or 0 back.

Aggies broke him in 2023 when Achane ran straight at him for 200+ yards.
VOLS broke him in 2022* running right at him and forcing Kelly to yank him out of the game on our way to 250 on the ground AND in the air

Perkins needed to be moved off the line of scrimmage.
Look at Perkins.
Look at the NFL.
There was no future on the edge.
The best thing for Perkins was to move off the line.
LSU may have been better off not trying to Kickstart his NFL career. But they did what was in the best interest of their teammate.

He regressed every year after that. That showed his coaching and scheme.
Injury never affects anything.

Perkins was a star from day one. Milroe rode the bench a while.
Perkins was moved all over the field. Milroe played one position.
Perkins was plugged into a scheme. Milroe had an offense that was tailored around his strengths with the goal of masking his weaknesses.
Perkins was undersized. Milroe was oversized.
People considered Perkins a can’t miss prospect out of high school. Milroe? Milroe who?
Perkins was a 5 star, top 10 recruit. Milroe wasn’t in the top 100.
People here are surprised Perkins was drafted so late. People here were surprised Milroe was drafted so early.
Despite all this, Milroe was a 3rd round pick. Perkins was a 6th round pick.
I understand you're an autist, and besides the issue of several of your points being incorrect, that wasn't really the meaning behind my statement.
They're both physical specimens and massive production was expected from them but they never really took that next step and were just "okay."
Lot of inconsistencies from both.

He was first team all-SEC as a true freshman. I would say he was not overrated. He just regressed.

Even when he was still on the edge in his freshmen year, his production dropped toward the end of the season when teams started gameplanning around him.
The 2022 Arkansas game really is where a lot of the hype came from but people forget that was a backup, true runner at quarterback on a cold day. Perkins just had to chase him around all day.
He also benefited a lot from BJ Ojulari and Ali Gaye being on the line in 2022.
He did lead the team in sacks in 2022, 2023, and 2025.

Damn, I missed you eclipsing the 70,000 post mark. What did you do to celebrate?

He didn't really regress (outside of sacks), he just didn't take the next step.

You pay far more attention to my post count than I do.

Other than his statistics getting worse, and his play on the field looking worse, he didn’t regress.

It's not hard to figure out. He had success his first year, as a hybrid edge rusher, but by his second year teams planned for that. Add to that, they tried to make him a traditional line backer, and he didn't have the size to be affective as an every down line backer, and he couldn't cover on passing situations. The injury didn't help matters, either. I've got bookmarks on dumbasses on here that got shitty at any mention that he might regress after his first year. Yeah, you assclowns know who you are.

2022 - 14 games, 39 solo, 33 asst, 13 TFL, 7.5 sacks, 1 INT, 2 passes defended, 4 fumbles forced
2023 - 13 games, 43 solo, 32 asst, 13 TFL, 5.5 sacks, 1 INT, 5 passes defended, 3 fumbles forced
More tackles, same TFL, less sacks, same INT, more passes defended, 1 less forced fumble in 1 less game.

He is a pass rusher. An excellent one in college.
Sacks dont just happen.
Teams have to throw the ball.
Look at the opposing rush attempts at the end of the 2022 season. Its nuts.
The best thing for LSU would have been to keep him on the edge. Situational backer/star.
The best thing for Perkins was to get cross trained and prepped for the NFL at a different position.
Kudos to LSU for doing what was right for their family.

I agree he had certain physical gifts but I looked at him like a pitcher with one pitch who eventually batters figured out and after that he was just getting by on reputation because he never put in the time to develop additional tools.
