I guess we could all agree that his work ethic was probably pretty weak which is why he regressed throughout his career.
I also think we can all agree that LSUs defense as a whole regressed under the dancing coach.
The NFL is infatuated with sacks, and there will he multiple opportunities a game in the NFL where he will be able to straight pass rush and thats all they want from him as a 6th round pick.
Similar thing happened at Bama with Dallas Turner. The kid looked elite until we started dropping him into coverage to try to hide linebacker flaws we had.
He was simply an Edge rusher and thats it and thats fine for the pros.

You should stop because you sound like a fricking idiot. You are showing the knowledge of someone who read one article on Harold Perkins but never saw him play.

Idk about that. They turned him into an inside linebacker. Why would your coaching staff turn a guy that cant shed blocks into an inside linebacker? Shedding a block at the second level and making a play on a moving RB is much harder than shedding a block off the edge when you have speed advantage on a stationary lineman and QB in the pocket.
I think this is a sore spot for LSU fans because yall were so high on him and he ended up doing nothing after his injury in 2024.
Opposing fans feared him. This doesnt happen unless we see a guy and know hes elite.

LSU's defense was solid in 2024 and elite last year.
ETA- Elite may be a little strong, let's say very good

A conversation like this can instantly separate those who actually know ball vs those who hear and see a thing or two.

Wtf?
Since when do tackles and pulling guards become "stationary linemen"

5th in the SEC in points per game isnt elite. It was good*
SEC offenses were pretty arse last year in general though.

That isn't how you judge a defense.
In advanced metrics like FEI, for instance, LSU had the 12th best defense in the country.
Also, I'd argue that Harold didn't really "regress" as several here are erroneously saying, he just never took the next step and became the game wrecker that many were expecting.

Since when do guards and tackles pull on passing plays? Play action a couple plays a game?
Very rarely. Youre much more likely to see this as a linebacker on running plays which is why he should have never been made a linebacker.

Elite defenses dont give up 20 points a game. Ohio State, Indiana, and Tech were the only elite defenses in college football.
LSU gave up 330 yards a game. Be serious.

He didn't stay at inside linebacker. He mostly played the Star position in 2025.

The comment was about shedding blocks and tackling a running back.
And explains why an undersized played got moved further off the line of scrimmage.
And... this is the new thing I all of football. It isnt once or twice a game.
Run action is taking over college football on passing downs.

Perkins has had multiple position coaches and coordinators at this point, he's played multiple positions in various schemes.
Seems like a program and coaching issue to me.

Ultimately, he was a liability because of his size.
He measures 6’ 1”, 225 pounds. There have been lots of successful NFL linebackers that size and smaller. There are currently successful NFL linebackers that size and smaller. Aaron Donald is way undersized to be a NFL defensive tackle. Yet for years many considered him the best player in football. If what you say is true, what are these guys doing playing linebacker in the NFL?
Ivan Pace Jr. (Minnesota Vikings): 5'10", 231 lbs.
Nakobe Dean (Philadelphia Eagles): 5'11", 231 lbs.
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (Cleveland Browns): 6'1", 226 lbs.
David Long Jr. (Miami Dolphins): 5'11", 227 lbs.
Dee Winters (San Francisco 49ers): 5'11", 227 lbs.
Malcolm Rodriguez (Detroit Lions): 5'11", 232 lbs.
Drake Thomas (Seattle Seahawks): 5'11", 223 lbs

He measured smaller than this at the combine
His successful freshman season was as an edge player.
Go ahead and list the successful NFL edge players under 6'1" and under 225 pounds.

Why?
Perkins was a star from day one. Milroe rode the bench a while.
Perkins was moved all over the field. Milroe played one position.
Perkins was plugged into a scheme. Milroe had an offense that was tailored around his strengths with the goal of masking his weaknesses.
Perkins was undersized. Milroe was oversized.
People considered Perkins a can’t miss prospect out of high school. Milroe? Milroe who?
Perkins was a 5 star, top 10 recruit. Milroe wasn’t in the top 100.
People here are surprised Perkins was drafted so late. People here were surprised Milroe was drafted so early.
Despite all this, Milroe was a 3rd round pick. Perkins was a 6th round pick.
