He’s been given the grace up until now to assemble the talent he needs to get Auburn back to the top tier of the conference. This coming season is where he has to deliver or else he’s done.
ETA : not saying he has to win the conference or even make the playoffs. But anything less than at least 9 wins will be disappointing.

I remember when Les Miles was on the hot seat and then he won a natty and then made it to another the same year he won the SEC. Lsu fans laughed
The same came with Coach O until he put together the greatest team in college football history. LSU fans laughed again
Now it’s Brian Kelly. I look forward to laughing very soon!

Out of that list the only one on the hot seat is
Riley
Has not won an important game at USC even with Caleb and the other players he stole from Oklahoma…..and now he doesn’t have Caleb….
He needed outstanding QB and outstanding program support to win what he did at OU…
Look at the string of QBs he had. Baker, Kyler, Jalen, Rattler, Caleb
Now who does he have????

It may seem that way... but educated USC fans realize that Clay Helton "destroyed" the program and Riley has had to "rip it down to the studs" to rebuild it.

Another 5-7 yeah he is probably gone. The fact pattern for the tutes will have changed by then. Expectations are higher for year three even if he hasnt proven himself at Auburn yet.

With the money spent, 6-6 and even 7-5 shouldn't buy him much good will. This is the NIL era. Lane inherited a shitty Ole Miss team trying to rebound from a major probation and got to 10 wins in year 2. Rebuilds don't take 5 years anymore.
