Didn’t you guys have the #1 class of all time and went 8-4? I don’t remember the exact details.
No they had the #1 class ever and went 5-7 and got their arse beat at home by Napier.

What level of consistency and accuracy do you demand to consider information "useful"? Seems a pretty ignorant to demand 100% accuracy.
Pre season rankings are a crap shoot and a 5* player from a small high school might end up a 2 once they get to college. How much weight do recruiters put on the stars vs their own eye balls? They might take a casual glance at someone's star ranking but they make their own judgement.

Justin Jefferson was actually a 2 star.

If your son landed at San Angelo State for 10K, and then balled out and was offered 900K to go play at TCU, would you call him a quitter?

Obviously very high probably because their mistakes result in death.
I would think that if a recruiting service's mistakes would result in deaths all over the world, people would reasonably be upset if they were not close to being 100% accurate. They might put just a bit more time and effort into getting it correct if that were the case. However since their mistakes don't result in all that many deaths or even an annoying rash, you are not going to get that level of effort.
Weird comparison dude.

Still haven't told me what source has a better track record. I won't hold my breath.
If you believe results are the best measure of team talent, preseason polls are at least as accurate, and some seem more accurate, than this assessment based on recruiting stars.
And there would be a way to make it more accurate by adjust players grade/score each season based on actual results from the previous season. For example take two 5* QB recruits. One balls out his second season. The second sucks and gets benched. Come up with a system to adjust those guys scores from the year before, one up and other down. Right now 24/7 would value those two exactly the same. Do that for every player every year. That would be an improvement over recruiting stars.

quote:Not really. How about the weather forecast? How about how honest your city council when faced with a bunch of questions from the people. Then these click bait rankings fall in there somewhere. They might hit a few dead on. But to rank 100+ teams? Only slightly more accurate than picking the top 25 high school teams in the country. How ridiculous is that? Bet your pension on the rankings. I certainly don't care. Personally, I just find them pretty useless. But, I don't gamble so they don't matter to me.
Weird comparison dude.

But we did beat Lane Kiffin.

Yeah, and Kelly was cleaning up the mess left by Orgeron. And Orgeron was cleaning up the mess left by Miles, and so on.
Kiffin always has one of the largest talent turnovers in college football. He has always liked to use the TP to build his roster. He does a great job at it, too. But, he doesn't do it to clean up messes. That is just the way he prefers. And, it works for his style.
2026-LSU is #1 in TP
2025-Ole Miss was #4 in TP
2024-Ole Miss was #1 in TP
2023-Ole Miss was #2 in TP
2022-Ole Miss was #2 in TP
This is not a recent phenomenon for Kiffin trying to "clean up" some perceived mess. It just his preferred MO. And, that is not a criticism. Every coach has to recruit to his strengths.

True, at home. Lost to him the year before too

They really need to fix the transfer rankings.
For example, Ty Benefield is on this as a 3-star, his high school rating. He's likely a 1st round draft pick and was a huge get in the portal after developing in college (or just going under the radar in HS).
ETA:
Jayce Brown, Tre Brown, Braelin Moore, and Jackson Harris all 3* on this

I thought we were talking about last year. We beat Lane Kiffin when he had the same roster as Golding did and Golding beat Georgia with the same roster Kiffin did. I'm sure that sits well with your jab at Georgia for Golding beating Georgia, right?

Completely different. At Samford Stadium versus neutral site... but you know that

They have no idea how to put out accurate transfer portal ratings.
Cashius Howell comes to mind. He was ranked as the #81 transfer prospect nationally.

Oh. Completely different. Except...Kiffin is a much, much better coach than Golding, right?
Wow. And Alabama beat Georgia in Athens, then lost to Georgia at a neutral site. Amazing how that works for Alabama but not Kiffin.

Wasn't Jow Burrow, Jefferson, Honey Badger, Chase, Daniels, etc all highly touted out of high school? I mean recruiting is obviously hit or miss, but I would guarantee the percentage of 5 stars that went pro is higher then 4 stars, 4 stars higher then 3 stars(note I said percentage), there a ton more 3 stars then 4 stars, and a ton more 4 stars then 5.
