I’m pretty damn impressed with your roster. I like we are #2 when it comes to 4’s and 5’s combined.

Depth is becoming more important than ever

And Indiana comes in at # 37. Times are a changing. Ohio State and certainly Oregon still feel like they do less with more.

The perfect balance, assuming that good coaching is there, seems to be a combination of the right recruiting, transfer portal, and the sage QB, mostly harvested from lower ranks.

It feels like the more players that come through the portal, the more one-off it feels. The last part of the championship equation, so far, feels like age. The older, the better. A 24-year-old QB is 6 years past high school, and his experience is giving him a big edge. Of course, Indy just won it all with a team of them. I doubt their talent was close to the top 15, so it may end up being the biggest advantage of all.

The recruiting services have not figured out how to accurately assess transfers. 24/7 does perhaps the worst job. In the transfer portal era the 24/7 recruiting composite rankings are laughable. But people keep clicking on them and talking about them.

2nd from the bottom last year.

If you aren’t paying attention Georgia doesn’t use the portal a ton. Kirby has good evaluations on talent and stays committed to his players. Our NIL funds go towards retaining talent not trying to outbid everyone for players who quit on their teams.

Does anyone know how to pull up last year's preseason ranking and see how badly they missed on Indiana?

All offseason, the rant has been lauding Indiana's transfer portal.

Indiana allotted 7.5 million dollars for transfers for the 2025 team. That could be more damming that kicking our azz on the field.
