We should make an effort to get Troy's catcher. He will be playing somewhere in the SEC next season.

The Rizy kid - his biggest problem is being able to throw strikes. This pitching staff has their work cut out for them.

Sounds like we also picked up that 1B from Louisiana Tech. He seems like a legit good transfer pickup.
All conference. Hit .335 with 15 home runs.

Believe it or not, we spent a few million more than State on our roster.
How? They had to have spent more on Jacob Parker, Ace Reese, Tomas Valincius, Aiden Teel, and Jack Bauer than anyone we had on our roster. No telling what they had to pay Parker and Bauer to turn down the pros. I'm sure we had to pay Furniss, Utermark, and Hunter Elliot, but those guys weren't having to turn down a lot of money from he MLB.

I told my wife before the games that we just didn't have the hitting to make it far in Omaha. Our bullpen let the big stage get into their heads and didn't do well. That's why we exited 0-2. It is what it is, but we need to get some hitters for next season. If you look at the entire postseason, the only reason we won the regional and super regional was because the bottom of our lineup decided to wake up but the top of our lineup really struggled. Our team batting average was >.300... that's baaaad.

We've got some young talent that should be returning, but we need to revamp the pitching staff and pick up some guys that can actually hit the ball. The number of strikeouts we've had this year was abysmal.

Pitching was really improved this year and comparatively to the rest of the teams out there, we were excellent. Where we really struggled was hitting the ball. We really were a HR or bust team.

That’s a bad strategy in a ball park like Omaha. Base runners base hits and pitching wins in Omaha.
I love gorilla ball. That miss state/ uga series was awesome with all the home runs but you’ve gotta put guys with high on base percentages between the power.
They talk about how you want to have your best hitters ranked 1-9 and order your line up that way but I don’t understand why you wouldn’t spread your power out and have base runners for the HR’s and the pitcher never gets a moment to relax at any point in the lineup.
We just don’t pressure pitchers. Swinging out of our shoes at any pitch remotely within the strike zone. Carolina beat us because they stretched out at bats and got our ace off the mound. They didn’t bail the pitcher out chasing stuff out of the zone. Even taking strikes if they didn’t like the pitch.

Seeing lots of comments here on the offense so thought I’d chime in with some stats.
We struck out 26% of the time. South Carolina is the only team really close at 25%. I don’t think it was really a plate discipline or approach issue though. We walked 14% of the time, 3rd highest rate in the SEC. I think we had some really shite hitters regardless of their approach.
Guys like fawley, jones, pacella etc aren’t gonna be any better if they make contact because their contact is shite even when they hit the ball.
The real problem in my opinion is we did not hit the ball well when we made contact. We had an XBH rate of 8%. Missouri was the worst in the league at 7%.
We were a gorilla ball team that sucked at gorilla ball.
Reuter, Paino, fawley, Moseley, pacella, romine all had strikeout rates over 35%. That simply will not play in the SEC.
I calculated ops+ with 100 being the average SEC qualified hitter. We had three players above average(judd, Bissetta, furniss). Teams like ms state and Georgia have 8+ players with an ops+ above 100.

Pitching lost us both of the games. Hitting could have been better in game 1, but 2 runs in a pitcher's duel can win it. 8 runs against Troy should be a win 100% of the time.

Troy was mighty unimpressive today after whipping our asses the other day.

Yep a grand total of 0 runs against WVU's Sunday pitching.

If tweet fails to load, click here. What's up with Bianco losing kids like this to the portal? Is he just wanting to go to a team that will let him play SS?

Yeah he wants to play middle infield, and that wasn't going to happen at Ole Miss.
Wish him the best.

I assume that means Paino is staying

Yeah he batted .459 in the post season and that’s great. What were his regular season stats?
