Even with his great playoff, he was essentially the least productive player in the league with substantial playing time. I say this as a huge fan of the kid.

Seeing lots of comments here on the offense so thought I’d chime in with some stats.

We struck out 26% of the time. South Carolina is the only team really close at 25%. I don’t think it was really a plate discipline or approach issue though. We walked 14% of the time, 3rd highest rate in the SEC. I think we had some really shite hitters regardless of their approach.

Guys like fawley, jones, pacella etc aren’t gonna be any better if they make contact because their contact is shite even when they hit the ball.

The real problem in my opinion is we did not hit the ball well when we made contact. We had an XBH rate of 8%. Missouri was the worst in the league at 7%.

We were a gorilla ball team that sucked at gorilla ball.

Reuter, Paino, fawley, Moseley, pacella, romine all had strikeout rates over 35%. That simply will not play in the SEC.

I calculated ops+ with 100 being the average SEC qualified hitter. We had three players above average(judd, Bissetta, furniss). Teams like ms state and Georgia have 8+ players with an ops+ above 100.
