So what is greek life at Ole Miss like now?

Something popped up in my FB feed, so I assume bid day or rush is going on.
There are 50% more undergrads, than when I was there in 90s. Are pledge classes out of control? Back then sororities were up to 90 member classes, cannot imagine now.

When I was first there in 96, rush was the week before school started and there were open parties with live bands playing at each house. The crowd of a thousand students would hit each house one by one. It was a madhouse. Then they changed rush week to after school started a couple of years later and closed the parties. It really wasn't the same after that but was still fun. I'm also wondering how it is now.

The top houses when I was there were Kappa Sig, ATO, and KA. Sig Ep wasn't bad either but mostly high end redneck types. I've kept in touch more with the Sig Ep guys than anyone else. I never went in because I was going for KA and they were kicked off campus. Got bids from 3 different houses though.

When I was there in the 80s, sigma chis, phi delts, Pikes and SAEs were called the big 4.

The current tiers are as follows…
Tier 1 - Sigma Chi, Kappa Alpha, Phi Delt, Sigma Nu
Tier 2 - Kappa Sig, Alpha Tau, Delta Psi
Tier 3 - Beta, Phi Tau, SAE
Tier 4 - Sigma Pi, Phi Psi, Pike, Pi Kapp, DKE
SAE has had a lot of issues with member retention and drug use, and they’re just now getting back after being kicked off campus for a few years. Can’t remember exactly what happened but I think they beat the shite out of a pledge and stuffed him into a suitcase

Seems pretty tame. E's at UK rolled a kip in TP and set it on fire. Helps when your alumni include Bill T and the guy that started Outback Steakhouse (still think this is why UK got the Outback with Penn State). Anybody else would have been banned forever, I think they got a years probation.
