This was the most frustrating team to watch.

I hope they figure out how to play defense this year and learn how to put the F’ing ball in play. Getting beat like that almost topped Tennessee Tech. Mike Bianco all time classic to add to his long list of shite. Only thing we did well this year was strike out.

I gave him credit a week or so ago for hiring a pitching coach and seemingly turning it around. But losing twice to Murray fricking State in your own regional is inexcusable. If it had been Georgia Tech tonight I wouldn’t be as mad. Because I could understand losing to the ACC regular season champions who probably should have hosted.

But I cannot and will not make excuses for giving up 30+ runs to Murray State over 3 games. I legitimately think this is worse than when we lost to Tennessee Tech or whoever it was. Completely inexcusable and I hope funding dries up so Bianco is either forced to resign or he has to be embarrassed for the next year or two while we get our shite pushed in having no good players or fan support

I think Tennessee Tech was more surprising. That was also a much easier regional field. This one was tough, especially when you look at LSU’s draw.

Hate to be dollars and cents but curious what some guesses might be. How much total tax revenue (drinks, food, Airbnb, gas, etc.) Thursday to Sunday you think this L cost Lafayette County ? Just guess a number

We haven't hosted a super in 16 years. The demand in Oxford would have been astronomical

That game is on the pitching and defense but furniss, Humphrey and smithwick watching strike 3. Absolutely weak

Had a big hand in losing this game.

Furniss and Uttermark were big Sunday, so tons of credit for that. However, when the train was rolling in the 8th last night and we needed them most, they couldn’t get it done when pretty much everybody else did. I know they were more disappointed than anybody but facts are facts. Uttermark, especially, has to learn to battle better at the plate until he gets something he can handle.

I'll never understand these kids just watching a 3rd strike without even attempting to swing the bat. Utermark needs to come back for another season and cut way back down on his K's.

Can't really blame any of our hitters. The strikeouts in the 8th were a killer but you should beat Murray state putting up 11 runs. Our defense and pitching shite the bed.

Murray state rolled out their best pitchers, bianco's ego made him think he didn't need to use his best until it was too late.

I pretty much checked out this year. I did get caught up in the emotion at the end of the season and because the team actually performed slightly better than I expected and based on what that 2022 team, despite a rough regular season, was able to do in the tournament. But I always knew deep down this was going to happen.

Bianco, though having played a large part in the foundation off our current program, needs to retire gracefully. There comes a time when the game passes you by or you can't, or don't want to, adjust to remain successful. Look at Paul Manieri. It's time for Bianco to become the elder statesman of Ole Miss baseball and get some new blood into this program. He will preserve his legacy and will be doing the best thing he can for the program he built if he steps away with dignity.

From the Clarion Lender article today re: why Bianco didn't give his traditional post-game speech to the team:

quote:

"Like the rest of the 40 (players) in that dugout and probably 12,000 in the stands, we didn't think we were going to lose," Bianco said. "Unfortunately, we did. You don't really have that speech prepared."

Simply maddening. You had already been beaten by Murray State once. You were behind the entire game on Monday. If this is his attitude, he must go. This type of attitude is contagious from the top down, and explains a lot of this year (and the past years). If I'm Keith Carter, I have this article sitting on my desk when Bianco comes in for the debrief.

The 4 seed that just bounced us from an easy trip to Omaha plays baseball on this field.

Bianco is such a clown.

I know everybody wants to fire Bianco but baseball is the worst sport to overreact to a few games. Last night Murray State had insane babip luck on ground balls. Look around college baseball and see how many 1 seeds lost this weekend. This team simply didn’t have enough pitching and defense to go far in the postseason.

I've driven and run past that field and through that campus a million times in my life. There is no comparison between their campus and facilities and ours. Kudos to Murray State for what they have achieved thus far with what they have.

Its not just a few games. This has happened consistently for 25 years. The one exception was 2022

You can absolutely blame the hitters for keeping the bat on their shoulders and watching a 3rd strike.
