Meh, the new Orleans scene is VASTLY overrated. I've not had the first meal in New Orleans that I thought was the best. The highlands, I would take any day of the week and twice on Sunday over anything I've had in nawlins. If u like the Creole, gumbo, etoufee, jambalaya, blah blah thing then u like nawlins. Not all of us think that shite is the alpha and omega.

This thread, and this very board, should be burned to the ground. It’s ashes should be sprinkled on Finebaum’s grits and Nick’s Little Debbie’s. May god have mercy on your Saban-tortured souls.

Tomball is a suburb of NW Houston and close enough to College Station to be included in the SEC Footprint. .

Goodson's Café in Tomball has the best Chicken Fried Steak in Texas...……….

According to their foundation's site, 20 is an accurate count for Nola. ?

That's just restaurants. Not chefs.

There are a decent amount of categories and even regional winners but there have only been about 30 chefs and 30 restaurants to win overall top award. I am not sure why Louisiana folks feel the need to huff and puff so much about their food and shite on everywhere else for having good food as well.

Surprisingly Auburns David Bancroft has come in as a semifinalist for best chef in the region three years in a row. But just regional. Auburn never really had much until recently as far as fine food.

Well yea, they won the James Beard Award for Best Restaurant in America this year.

Thank you for your support in this thread. I was just in Birmingham on business two weeks ago and believe it’s one of the best kept secrets in not just the south but in the country for quality of life and has a great scene.

Highlands Bar and Grill Birmingham Alabama

Birmingham, unlike NOLA, has numerous world class chefs to boast about.

This pretty much sums it up. I’ve traveled all around the south and you can find a damn good meal in most of the big cities if you’re willing to look for it.

I believe NOLA and south LA in general are home to some of the most unique and best foods in the world, but there’s good eating all around the south.

best known restaurant in Alabama (Lambert’s)

Idgaf about this thread's argument. i come to find good places to eat... but, this guy's opinion is void if he calls Lambert's the best place in Alabama. 1. it means he's eaten few places OR 2. has horrible taste.

Totally Agree on Bob Syke’s. But I always have them plate the meat naked, sauce used sparingly. The pies there are awesome! Always take a pie home!

Yea Whateva.

But the definition of dumbass is thinking any other city in SEC country can even come close to New Orleans in the food and beverage industry.

I like Louisiana food a lot more than Alabama for sure, but let's not pretend there are just a bunch of Michelin rated restaurants in New Orleans.

All the bitching and animosity aside, Acre in Auburn is fantastic.
