$42 million guaranteed.

Richest deal in Colts history for an Olineman.

Need more contracts like this in the future, so we can start loading back up on Olinemen

I remember seeing him walk down Donahue and being blown away at how fricking huge he was as a Fr.

Hard to believe we ever recruited him. Since we suck at that and all.

What's really going to bake your noodle is when you realize that we had a $70 million NFL Tackle playing Guard for his entire collegiate career .

Not really. I dont care if he played Hback. As long as it was where he was needed.

Of course you don't care. But surely you can follow the trail and connect the dots: if we couldn't even evaluate Braden Smith as a Tackle (a more valuable position on the OL), don't you think that sheds light on why that position group for the past 3+ years has been an absolute disaster? Or perhaps why we had to convert a DT (Alec Jackson) to play LT?

What does it matter. You are going to turn every single post in every single thread into a Gus sucked post so what’s the point.

Carry on brother. Do your thing.

Had the same thought the one time I saw him out at dinner. Just a legit mountain of a man.

Sets a pretty high bar for what Quenton Nelson will get. Good for Braden though.

That’s not how it works though. I’m still drinking my first cup of coffee and not thinking in-depth on those teams, so tifwiw. But you put the best team on the field. It’s very possible Auburn had players that were much better at tackle then guard so Braden Smith at tackle was the best for the team. It’s not about only putting your stars at their best position, if that compromises your team.

Guards for the buck sweep, awesome.

Not sure Gus system would highlight next level pass pro, but it sure was fun to run 4 plays in 2013.

It is what it is.

Moving forward, maybe the offense is more pro oriented. Might help recruiting overall.

Regardless of what people's opinions are and the excuse is that our recruiting was bad. Under Gus 11 more players were drafted then the 7 previous years before he was head coach. I don't have an update from this years draftee's so not sure what the 8 year totals would be.

Yes it sucks for Auburn to be the rival of Bama right now and what they are doing on the field and in the draft but they are the exception not the norm.

The key how many of them were on defense vs offense?

ANd I think the consensus was that Gus' recruiting wasn't bad but inconsistent to poor in critical areas. Even this big contract Braden Smith got, he even said when he got to the NFL that he was not developed well at all for the NFL. I believe his own ability finally was fully developed in the league.

One thing I would call atrocious considering our pedigree at the position would be that we have only had 3 LB's drafted in the past 15 drafts.

5th Round Will Herring
6th Round Deshaun Davis
6th Round KJ Britt

But...But... T-Will is our best recruiter
