I was playing solo with a cart and attempted to jump ahead of 2 guys walking. I was completely caught off guard at just how pissed one of the dudes was about this. First time in quite a long time that I got to the point of actually wanting to fight another human.

Agreed.
And another thing I haven't mentioned is we moved a few years back and currently live fairly close to that area....I don't want it to be 13th grade with a lot of the same people they know now. Personality/growth-wise I think my son would really benefit from a change of scenery while my daughter is pretty strong in the self identity arena already.

Totally fair - and I very much appreciate the feedback you've shared here.

There is very little income and class diversification at good ole AU these days. I'd like for my kids to see that everyone on the planet doesn't live in a giant house and drive a lexus or bmw at age 19.

how are the costs at these other institutions vs AU
With all things considered, gross total price is not all that different. Other schools are a little more generous with their auto-scholarship dollars.
And to answer the other poster - i don't think Auburn is a good fit. It has become quite culturally homogenous.

I don't totally disagree. My son is very likely to be a relationship management/problem solver type. He's not going to be doing something super technical. Fairly basic undergrad with targeted internships and then maybe grad school once he figures it out is what I'd predict. I personally like Troy's risk management program for him....but I'm also trying to walk the line of guiding him to decide for himself without pushing him to do what he thinks Dad wants him to do.
My daughter on the other hand....she'll figure it out for herself no problem.

UAB is a very different place undergrad vs post-grad.
As far as the location....I know very, very little about Birmingham and the neighborhoods there - is UAB in a decent enough area or would my wife's outlandish, irrational fears be accurate-ish?

The time has come for my children to visit colleges. Grades and test scores are good for both, but we aren't going to be rocket surgeons. Things that currently interest them are pretty wide-ranging - physical therapy, hospitality management, economics, psychology...etc. They are 100% not interested in nursing, accounting, or computer science/IT fields.
On the list for consideration now are UAB, Troy, and South Alabama.
Anybody have pros/cons for each based on your personal experience attending?
Thanks

re: What to avoid in an older wakeboard boat

Thank you -
I have no desire for any of us to surf, it really is just wakeboarding and cruising.
I love the idea of less electronic crap to break. The less I have to maintain, the better

What to avoid in an older wakeboard boat

Good Evening all -
Going to add a boat to the fleet this season. Currently own a 19ft bay boat that I love and will never get rid of, but its time to accommodate the family a little better.
Kids have enjoyed the wakeboarding we've tried to do, but we need to get something that has an actual tower and can throw an actual wake.
As I begin shopping around - I want to spend as little as possible - willing to go up to 30 if I have to.
I know absolutely nothing about these hulls or inboard motors - Are there brands/styles to avoid? Are there specific things I should be looking for?
thanks

Its still 75% of the total due with zero mitigation.

After the buyouts of Gus Malzahn and Steven Leath, I determined that no amount of money I am likely to ever have in my lifetime is enough to move the needle on the kind of stupid going on at Auburn.
Yeah but.....We obviously learned a very valuable lesson through the pain and stupidity of those buyouts (and Harsin's).
I mean, its not like we went out and hired a coach with an incredibly checkered past that nobody else was competing with us for and then turned around and gave him similar buyout terms.
oh....wait...
re: How many of y'all were personally affected by the 2007-08 financial crisis?

Bought a foreclosure for 15% under market value at the beginning of 2008. Area didn't recover enough for me to even get what I paid for the house until 2016. I almost literally tried to give it away in 2013 - assumable FHA mortgage, selling for 10% less than I paid....
Ended up having to rent it out for 3 years and finally sell it for 165K in 2017. Of course, it just sold again last month for 289K.

We paid off Gus in June.
We owe Harsin 2 more payments of nearly 2mil each. Summer 2025 and summer 2026.

The dude sucked as our coach.
But, our folks pulled some pretty bullshitty bullshite trying to fire him for cause.
I'd hate us too. Hell, i do hate us too for who we replaced him with.

Time for a raise and extension! Gotta lock him down before others steal him away!
