Josh Heupel will receive a six-year contract that pays him $4 million annually. The MOU includes clauses related to potential NCAA punishments.

The contract includes a clause that would add a seventh year to the contract if Tennessee faces NCAA punishments in the form of a postseason ban of two or more years and/or a scholarship reduction of eight or more.

That’s a loooong time to give an unproven head coach.

I know it has been 14 years now since Saban got 8 years and $32 million, but these contracts for coaches with little to no track record seem insane.

When you are facing serious sanctions, you have to over pay for anyone you get.

I'd have guided them through probation and lost a ton of games for 10% of that. Suckers.

I'd rather hire Jim Leonhard for $2.5-3 million per year if possible.
