Like what exactly?
Not sure if true but rumor was T-Will was pushing the sjw stuff and causing issues in the locker room

"Last time with T-Will for me. Not surprised he wasn't retained. I'm sure Harsin did some heavy vetting and didn't want T-Will anywhere near his program. You can't divide a locker room, let outside interference cloud your judgment and tell anyone who would listen that your boss is an complete idiot and have a job in coaching. I could go on with this but I think enough has been said. T-Will is as much to blame for last year and any assistant coach or coordinator.
Be interesting to see where he ends up. "
In before "thats not true". But but but why isn't he still here then?
He also needs a massive lesson in humility. Got drunk off his own hype and got played hard on the recruiting trail this past year. How many elite LB's were either committed or heavily leaning to us early, and went elsewhere? This was before the season fell apart and Malzahn was canned.

Official Presser
I like these numbers, but how is he with the Special teams/LBs specifically we'll have to find out:
"In three seasons at Fresno State (2017-19), Watts' defense ranked in the Top 10 nationally in several statistical categories. In 2018, the Bulldogs finished with a 12-2 record and were Mountain West Champions.
In 2018, the Bulldogs ranked third nationally in scoring defense, surrendering 14.1 points per game. Fresno State also finished the 2018 campaign ranked in the Top 10 in the FBS in red zone defense (1st), scoring defense (3rd), passes intercepted (4th), passing efficiency defense (5th) and turnover margin (9th). Individually, Watts helped mentor linebacker Jeff Allison as the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year in 2018."

It's time to get to work.
I am excited about Auburn football for the first time in several years. It won't be a one year turnaround, but I think we got the right man for the job.

Feels like we got a few guys with west coast ties. Will be interesting to see if we start to pull more recruits from out there. I know we have a lot more offers out to guys in that direction already

Not sure why this board feels the need to smear each coach on the way out to explain why they’re not retained (or why they left).
It could just as likely be that Harsin wanted to go a different direction with some of the position instruction. TWill was great for us as a player and coach. It didn’t work out for him to stay. Wish him the best of luck going forward

quote:Exactly. Would have loved to keep him, but Harsin obviously is looking for a different type of skillset. This gives TWill a chance to develop and grow as a coach, and maybe we'll see him back on the Plains sometime in the near future

Pivoting away from the gossip hour and taking a look at the staff as a whole —
Anyone else noticing Harsin heavily influencing the position coach hires?
This was a bug talking point on the last head coach. Personally, it’s always seemed normal to me. Just curious what the board’s interpretation is on this now

Looks like a very good year to have changed head coaches. With portal and this year not being counted I can see why so many.

I guess we still need to add GAs?

Yep. Hopefully we can go get some OL...........if for nothing more than depth.

I read where Watts ran a hybrid 3-4 defense at Fresno while he was DC there.

I mean, but how much did he though? Defensively, I honestly don't know how much he really had a say in those hires. Did he have some influence, sure, but Mason had pretty direct relationship with Rocker at Vandy and apparently had recommendation with Ethridge. Watts, no idea there.
Offensively, Friend is because of Bobo. Rest of the offensive staff, no idea.
I mean the head coach should have some pretty serious input on the position coaches. I think most of people's issues with Gus was more that the positional coaches he hired, basically only ever coached for him. Every coach is going to have their guys, it is usually nice to have guys that have coached elsewhere before and had some success.
I think Auburn fans would have no problem with a head coach being a dictator of the program, you just better succeed at what you do

quote:Its 100% not true. TWill remained neutral with all the coaching stuff, which caused some issues because other coaches wanted him to pick sides. We're were in it with Mondon and others until the rumors of Gus being fired got started. Both of these post are complete BS.

Regardless. As Jones said, we have a staff now. Gus and his guys didn't work out and we will never know the details. Let's move on and support our coaches we have now.
