They had a very solid defense in 2018. 2019, I have no idea what went wrong that season, or if they were really young or what.

Their offense did them no favors in 2019. I was at the Air Force/Fresno game that year, and Air Force usually started with a short field. Fresno only ran for like 60 yards in that game.

I wish T-Will the very best of everything. I thank him for what he has done for Auburn. Like has already been said........for some reason fanbases want to bash outgoing coaches. I never have understood that.

I feel the same way.

Life is short and it changes quickly. It will be good for him to get out from under Auburn for a few years and learn from others.

If he proves himself, he will return with a bigger paycheck and a parade.

I read where Watts ran a hybrid 3-4 defense at Fresno while he was DC there.

Even if you ignore every rumor in regards to T-Will, this is reason enough to not bring him back. T-Will has always either played or coached in a 4-3, and they are completely different defenses. I would have been dissapointed if T-Will was retained for this reason.

Two places where the responsibilities are vastly different in a 3-4 vs 4-3 - DL and LB. Rocker played in a 5-2/3-4 under Wayne Hall, and has coached two gap systems in his coaching career. And the two LB guys are bonafide 3-4 guys. The secondary covereges aren't that different so it doesn't matter as much.

Look what happened when Aranda left (2 gap/3-4) and Pelini came in (4-3/lots of pressure). I hope that doesn't happen to AU, but I wouldn't be suprised if we struggle early on. LSU got better as well on D at the end of the year.

Does he really? Mason has three season as a P5 DC.

Here’s the rest of the quote. It’s really important that you read everything because you look dumb when you stop

Plus they’re under Mason who quite clearly has the success and experience that both of those guys are aiming for.

So tell me how the two position coaches under Mason wouldn’t want to do what he did at Stanford. DB coach > DC > SEC HC.

Because that’s what these guys have an opportunity to do if Mason is successful.

That’s the point, CB. Gotta put in the work and read the rest of the sentence next time

Time to fire up this thread again.. If Rocker leaves after being here a week I will officially be hoping he's never seen in Auburn again.

Did any other names for DL ever get confirmed? Vic So'oto is being brought up again but I don't see it happening.

He took the same job, unless you just mean the NFL in general is a promotion. To answer your question though, no not for taking a promotion. For this being his 3rd job in less than a month.. that shows you can't be counted on. And more importantly leaving Auburn high an dry after not even being here a week. If he thinks so little of this job, then he should never have a problem finding a better one.

Brick Haley was the DL coach for Mizzou last year, but got fired earlier this week.. Not sure who would be the front runner for the job right now though.

Go get Vic So'oto. He has experience coaching a 3-4 scheme.
