Rule Changes you want to see

Name a rule change you would like to see and why? I will start it off - change targeting so that disqualification only occurs on second call in same game against a player. Since targeting does not have to be intentional, disqualification is too stiff a penalty on first call

Fumbling the ball out of the end zone giving the ball to the other team.
Stupid rule.
Any other fumble out of bounds the offense retains possession.
In case of the end zone, the defense has done nothing to deserve to earn a turnover.

change linemen downfield from 3 yards to 1 yard to match the pros (and what college used to be)

Call pi the same both ways. Too many times I see a def player get a ticky tack pi but the off player is never called for doing the same thing.
Also change where linemen can only go downfield 1 yard not the 3 yards it is now.

Call the pick plays
Go back to linemen only allowed 1 yard downfield on pass play

I'd like to see overtime start at the 50 yard line to make a field goal more meaningful.
Make it so a punt has to touch in the endzone allowing players to jump over the plane and throw it back in field of play like pros.
Just a couple of the top of my head to add to the others

Targeting, lighter application of the rule. No penalty unless it looks bad.

Change review system to a challenge system like the NFL.
Players are not perfect.
Coaches are not perfect.
Refs are not perfect.
All personal fouls result in playing a man short for 10 plays.

I would love see the clock keep running on first downs. College football games are 31% longer than NFL games. When you add in National televised games with extra TV timeouts it's turns into 5 hours games.

My top 2 rules would be
1) The previously mentioned linemen downfield rule only being 1 yard instead of 3
2) If play is stopped for an injury, that player must sit out the rest of the drive.
Offensive efficiency is way too high now and I’m tired of watching players dive and fake injury.

I am completely on board with this, same set up as personal fouls.
Sure, some players would still get the short end of the stick but it would be a tremendous improvement from the current state of the rule and it would help slow the pussification of the game we love. This rule change would not end the war on football but it would be a giant step in the right direction.

I will piggy back off of this one. I hope they make a rule where if targeting was not called on the field, or any penalty for that matter, that it cannot be called during a replay review. I saw this against AU and many other teams this season. If not called on the field then no penalty, PERIOD.

Gotta start calling PI either less harsh or offset the foul. It’s way too catered to the receiver. Defense is almost pointless on air raid with that.

1. Go back to the old rule of an "unintentional face mask" pull only being a 5 yard penalty.
2. Get rid of all the new "player safety" rules on special teams. It's almost impossible to block a kick or recover an onside kick now.
3. Get rid of the rule that if your helmet comes off you have to stop trying to make a play.
4. Give the replay booth a 2 minute time limit to make a decision. If they can't decide to overturn the call in that time then it's obviously not "conclusive".

Rule Changes you want to see
1. Move kickoff back to 30 yard line. Let’s see some returns!
2. OT rule should change to each team receiving ball on 50 yard line, make the team “earn” getting into field goal range.
3. Bring back 5 yard incidental face mask. Not every face mask should be 15 yards and flagrant.

Definitely change the OL downfield rule from 3 yds to 1 yd. A close second to OT starting field position, move it from the 25 back to the 40.

Agree that the targeting rule needs to be tweaked as 99% are not intentional.
I’d like to see a Flagrant 1/Flagrant 2 system. A Flagrant 2 penalty would not result in disqualification which would be those 99% in my opinion.

Change the half the distance penalty. It is vastly unfair to the team facing the goal line. If you are the team with its back to the goal line and you sustain a penalty it is only half the distance.
Here are a couple of examples and a solution:
Team A has the ball at the 2 yard line. Team B is on defense. Team A has an illegal procedure. Ball is moved back to the 7 yard line. Next play, Team B jumps offsides. Penalty is half the distance and the ball is placed at the 3 1/2 yard line. Same penalty on each team but Team A lost 1 1/2 yards in field position.
Team A has the ball at the 2 yard line. Team B is called for defensive holding and penalty is half the distance placing the ball at the one yard line. Team A on the next play is called for offensive holding. Ball is moved back to the 11 yard line. Same penalty on each team but Team A loses 9 yards in overall field position.
Totally wrong and the solution is simple. If the half the distance penalty is in effect for the team with its back to the goal line (regardless of whether they are on offense or defense) then penalty to the team facing the goal line would also either be half the distance away from the goal line or equal to what the penalty would be for the team with its back to the goal line.
So in example #1 above the first penalty would be 1 yard back to the 3 yard line. Second penalty would move the ball half the distance toward the goal line which would be the 1 1/2 yard line.
Example 2 would have the ball move back a half yard to the 1 1/2 yard line on the second penalty.
Thus the penalty would be applied equally in the same manner in that situation.
I have always felt like the team facing the goal line gets the short shrift on these situations.
