It's easy to get caught up in rankings weather good or bad just the same as you can get caught up and what a player did at his previous School. Neither indicator is a Surefire measuring stick for the success a player may or may not have under a new staff and team
We've all seen players that were highly rated and had good production that came to Auburn and absolutely did not live up to the hype. Chaplin is the most glaring example this season.
On the other side of that coin we've all seen players that weren't right tie and players that had little to no production at other schools possibly that came to Auburn and turned into absolute Beast. E. Asante. X Adkins. Etc
Both things can be true it can hurt to lose a Morris Williams and it can be good to gain womak

Solid player. Waited his time and finally got to play this past season. Played well. Was just overshadowed by X. Adkins.
Great locker room guy as well.

Or drives me crazy when people call this offense gimmicky.... it is imo the complete opposite of what I call a gimmick system. It's simplistic to the point it complex. That's why it has worked so well.
Like you said. Spacing is a high part. They make you cover every blade of grass. Thus also it's usually why the run game is so good. Spreads up out.
I don't think the route trees are overly simple so much as the concepts as a whole are relatively simplistic bc of the splits and at spacing. Relies more on one on one matchups and just let your guy win.
I believe one of the reasons you don't see this much in the NFL is because of the narrow hash marks. You're almost always pretty much in the middle of the field whereas on the college level if you're on a hash you have a lot of real estate to the fieldside to work with and put stress on the Defenders
I could care less how the system translates to NFL systems as long as we are winning games if you put out thousand plus yard receivers you're in year out you're going to draw Talent regardless how they do in the league

Yea... it's been the worse 5 year stretch in program history .
AU beat back to back number 1 teams and played for secc. KJ was hurt and we lost but a win gets us in the playoffs. .
Was 2013 a one off only 3 years removed from the prior one off... which was only 6 years removed from the 04 run off?
Gimme a break

Here me out:
HC experience-check
Def minded-check
Elite recruiter-check
Sec experience-check
Coached a Heisman winning QB-check
Won a NC-check
If you're thinking Jimbo ....you are wrong....I am speaking of the true innovator that brought us the invention of "The Shacket". There it is... Come on home, Chiz
I. Half joking but I honestly would take him back over half the people being mentioned

While Harskin definitely did a number on y'all, I'd venture to guess if you looked at the 2019 & 2020 rosters, very few of those are left from Gus' tenure.
There are 7 left from 2019 class (many graduated)
and 8 left from 2020. Not even close to the Harsin disaster

For Auburn
On Offense- QB. Who will it be and can they be an accurate enough passer to operate Freeze and Monty's system at an effective level. I think our OL will actually be very serviceable with the transfers brought in. Running game will be solid which should help the passing game.
WRs- Overhauled the WR w some size and what we hope to be talent...but it is just an unknown right now. We need 2 of the 4 WRs transfers to be legit.
On the Defensive side of the ball, I would say LB group is the biggest ?. I think the DL will solid with Harris, Jones, Rogers.
The other ? on front seven is pass rush. We should be better with J. McCleod but until I see him against SEC competition on a weekly basis he is unproven. I know he played well against Aggies last year. but that is one game and against a bad Aggy team.
Secondary should be legit. I have some cponcern at the other S spot next to Simpson but we should have a couple lock down corners in James and Pritchett.
From a whole team perspective.....DEPTH. Our 1s seem pretty decent across the board on both sides of the ball, but if we have injuries at key positions it could get bad. We aren't going to match talent wise with the upper teams, but I think we have good enough players that can keep us in games and with better coaching can overcome.
AU record prediciton if stay healthy - 9-3.
Most likely - 7-5

Im a die hard Aubie and got married on Iron Bowl Saturday. Here is the story.
My wife had one place and one place only in mind for where she wanted to have the wedding. She loved the place long before she met me and I had family ties to it as my Great Grandfather was born on the place when it was a working cattle farm.
So she and her mother are going to meet the owner and set a date for a fall wedding. I tell her I don't care as long as it isn't the Saturday of the IB.
She calls me later and says that the property has been sold and the new owners are not going to do events anymore and there was only one open date left and after Nov the new owner takes over. Of course it is IB Saturday.
We set up a couple TVs in the lobby and honestly after the minimal bitching it wasnt bad. People partied at an open bar and they would walk out to check the score and watch a few minutes but other than that the wedding was a blast and AU got shredded anyway so it was a great time.
The kicker when I agreed was that from this moment on in perpetuity any year our anniversary falls on same weekend as IB we will postpone celebrations until the following weekend. She has held her end of the bargain thus far through 7 years

Any Team can step up on any given day and beat anyone ! With one and your gone play, I’m not sure if it results in truly the Best team winning the Championship. It is entertaining however !
That is the argument...does it truly crown the best team? No...but is the best team deserving if they can't win it? IMO no. There is no better way to crown a more deserving team. I personally feel like championships should be earned. If you have 2 teams in the final and one would beat the other 99 out of 100 times but on that given day the other team won that 1 percent chance....That team is the TRUE National Champion.
