re: Florida Man games will feature beer belly wrestling and 'evading arrest' obstacle course

There should have been an alligator toss. I’ve heard Floridaman stories of gators being tossed through drive through windows. One guy robbed a gas station armed with a gator he threatened to lob at the attendant.
If there is some animal rights issue, just known alligators are tough. If nothing else use a fake alligator.

Most hated team in Florida isn’t UGA. It is going to be one of the big three schools in state.

It is going to be so wrong to not have it.

re: So Sankey pretty much let the SEC be the appetizer lead-in to the Big Ten this season...

The relationship with CBS soured because the SEC signed a long term deal with them long ago. The early years of the deal heavily favored SEC. As time went on the deal began to favor CBS. SEC wanted CBS to walk away from the good deal they were now in and restructure the contract . CBS wouldn’t.
Lesson here is don’t sign long term deals if you think the value of the product will keep increasing. Or structure the payments in such a way that they increase yearly at an acceptable level.
Just money people on both sides being counts.

Mullen would be a massive step up. Mullen had never been fired in his life until last year. It feels like he’s been around forever, but he’s young enough to learn from it.
Alternatively, he takes it badly and doesn’t improve. 2020 covid season is what broke Mullen. His guy throws a shoe and Mullen sends that player out for the coin toss the following week. 2021 was so bad for him because he took his hands off the wheel in 2020.

Richardson checked out of the game in the first quarter. He wanted to be anywhere but on that field. It didn’t matter what Napier did in that situation. The only way they were going to score again was running the ball and they needed time for that. My only complaint would be the playcall on that fourth down.
re: Billy Napier is Alabamas next coach
Posted by Hargojargo on 9/6/22 at 1:24 am
Saban will probably coach until he feels he just doesn’t have it anymore. That means when he quits Alabama will be slumping, and expecting a near-peak Saban quality replacement. These are reasons why following a legend is generally a bad idea. You want to be the second guy.
re: Hey corndogs! How about sunbelt billy?
Posted by Hargojargo on 9/5/22 at 11:33 am
Not going to lie, I wanted him to be coach. Then again, I’ve not been happy with any LSU coaching hire of this century (to my embarrassment, even including Saban at first), and they all won national titles. So, what the heck do I know. LSU as a program seems to find a way no matter who is in charge. Considering that, I think Kelly will be good enough.
re: Rank which teams impressed you the most week 1
Posted by Hargojargo on 9/5/22 at 11:24 am
Florida, then Georgia impressed me the most based on personal expectations. LSU is safely at the bottom of the list. Those are the only games I watched. But how about Vanderbilt? How do I talk to my kids about a potential 4-0 Vanderbilt?

As far as week one overreactions go, this might be #1. Credit to you for the vandy jab though.

It needs to be good. The Utah/Oregon one was super weak. I still enjoyed it, but they’ve raised expectations.
re: SEC East Question
Posted by Hargojargo on 12/17/21 at 2:53 pm
If Florida isn’t rolling, the East is always a joke, and they haven’t been rolling in quite a while. 2018/2019 I kept hearing about how great UGA was, but they got absolutely embarrassed. I have a suspicion that LSU could have beaten them 2020 and maybe even this season too.
People have this weird idea that “Well, somebody’s got to be elite in the East”, and the answer is no they don’t. I’m tired of having real life conversations with people about how great Mizzou was after 2 SEC East division championships, or about how “people really underestimate Kentucky”
Statistically UGA had a great season, but in the West that could end up 9-3. Then the next season the wheels fall off and Kirby is run out of town. They are living in fantasyland in their division at the moment.

re: Worse legacy Meyer or Paterno?
Posted by Hargojargo on 12/16/21 at 10:48 am
Paterno is clearly worse.
I am more interested in finding out what went on at Ohio State when Urban was there. Other than that one assistant coach beating his wife, it was quiet. There has to be some shite to still dredge up on his OSU tenure.

re: What's the new time given for a new coach?
Posted by Hargojargo on 12/14/21 at 1:13 pm
It’s 3. It has been 3 for a while. 4 if the coach is charismatic. 5 if the school has low expectations. 2 is only if a coach is a raging incompetent at a school who considers themselves a competitor. This usually requires off the field humiliation of the school (legal or otherwise).
re: LSU will be getting Napier's leftovers. Florida about to feast on Louisiana talent

He may have some good high school coach connections. But his recruiting relationships with players are worthless
re: Is Brock Bowers having the best season by a freshman TE in history?
Posted by Hargojargo on 11/28/21 at 2:05 pm
Possibly one of the best. TE is a lot like OL in that freshman rarely can play, much less at an elite level.
re: Nick Saban changes and then gets mad that Alabama fans have taken on his old persona
Posted by Hargojargo on 11/25/21 at 1:36 pm
It’s a really old coaching technique. If your talent is rolling over opposition you take every opportunity to rip them a new one because the media is kissing their arse. If they’re struggling and the is media critical, you lift your team up. There’s a narrow band of attitude that players learn and focus best at.

Is Central Florida Golden Knights still clownish? I thought their AD left. Was it not him? Is it just a university wide issue?

Always cracks me up how the state school of the poorest state in the country acts as if they’re the richest people in existence. Like we don’t know what Mississippi is all about.
It’s especially strange because MSU fans are some of the most down to earth good folks in the conference. So it’s not like it’s a Mississippi thing.
