What makes you think people in Alabama like him?

Clearly someone likes him because he went from being a local radio host that broadcast exclusively out of Birmingham, to being on radio stations throughout the southeast, to being a nationally syndicated radio talk show host. People bitch about him all the time yet they still continue to tune in.

After I record his show I hit play and jump to interviews of interest. Paul is a pretty good interviewer. I've no interest in the morons who call in.

I don't mind him.

He's entertaining, and knows how to run a show.

He also gives credit where it's due. Yea, he's got a bias, but he also admits when he was wrong, and usually has his thumb on the pulse of what's going on.

He also calls out other people's bullshite.

I've never met anyone inside or from Alabama who likes Finebaum. Those callers are a setup. They are real people but are a scripted part of his show. They were selected to represent certain stereotypes and are entertainment. His friendship with the former SEC commish made him. They were friends and associates, both from a personal, business and shared commonalities like same church associations and so forth.

But no one in Alabama really likes Finebaum. Bama fans know he hates them since he is a Tennessee alum and fan and he has poked fun at Auburn so they don't like him either. He does get some interesting guests at times however.

I'm sure it's only Alabama fans. That's why he's had his own television show for the past 6-7 years.

That sounds similar to Bo Mattingly here in Arkansas.

Both are bald and smart asses.

Everyone says he’s a good interviewer. He’s not. And he doesnt know much about football which is weird considering how long he’s been writing about it.

You operate under the presumption that people IN Alabama like him. That is false.

I think he’s run out of friends.

He doesn’t care, nor will ESPN let him care.

I would like him if he tried to actually be a television sports newscaster type personality. He would actually probably be really good at it.

The problem is his current gig of getting people riled up on SECN makes more money than anything of substance.

I quit listening because of the morons who call in. Used to enjoy the analysts like Danielson, and old coaches like Jim Donnan, Pat Dye, and Coach Stallings. But the I-Man's and Jim's and Legend's finally made me pull the plug.

I don't like or dislike the guy.I just don't get his popularity or supposed influence.

He's just milk toast with his opinions and
he leaves it to his callers to come up with outrageous opinions.

I know he tried to get in the Atlanta radio market and nobody listened to em
He talks CFB year round in a CFB crazed state and got an early start and built up an audience.Good for him but there's NO WAY he has the same success if he starts his radio schtick today.
