Yep, lets start actually enforcing legit academic standards for these players. See how many suddenly disappear from rosters nationwide.

No one is forcing any player to play any sport. They are free to quit, pack their shite, and go back home whenever they take the notion.

There is NO other industry where people don't get paid for their work.

Sure there is. Internships happen all over the world. Also, these players are getting a lot of compensation already. Is it enough? It's not in my opinion, but to act like they don't already receive substantial compensation is insane.

They are demanding 50% of the revenue, surely you understand the difference

For kids that go to relatively “smart” schools, they sure are dumb economically. I don’t think they realize what net income is and how little is left already.

P5 schools technically aren't allowed to cut kids. LINK

This could be a different deal though.

If they won’t play for safety concerns then they shouldn’t partake in any team functions due to safety either. Allowing that would be hypocritical of the coach and player.

The cry on here if they all actually did this would be hilarious.

Why?

There will always be players.

athletic scholarships. Everyone is a student first. If you qualify to get into school under the same guidelines as every other student, or get awarded a scholarship, you can then try out for whatever sports team you want. Maintain the grades as a student, and you can keep playing. Don't, and you're put on probation and ultimately bounced.

With that, you've just destroyed CFB.

We can all watch Friday nt games on PBS just like the Ivy League with the same amount of fans.

BTW,big time CFB hasn't had "real college"
student s on the field for about 50 years.

playing devils advocate and going to the extreme here. But:

plantation slaves were also provided shelter and food for their work. And were sometimes given a chance to recieve some education.

doesn't mean they were paid for it.

They're playing football for their school and are rewarded with free education and other benefits.

Why should they continue to recieve benefits if they dont hold up their end of the bargain?

My job wont keep paying me if I refuse to come to work.

Both are unethical.

Why are you against these kids getting paid for their services?

Why should coaches be given millionaire salaries, most states having a college coach as the highest paid public employee in the state, and fans will find a way to justify why that's acceptable, but will become Charlie in the mailroom episode when they try to explain that the player's don't deserve pay?

Scene 1: I’d like to thank God for a full ride scholarship offer!

Scene 2: Treat us like employees give us at least a stipend!

Scene 3: Treat us like owners...actually treat us like majority owners, you all can keep 48% for now!

Scene 4: Wait! You can’t fire us, we are just student athletes! Uhhhhh...Y’all are racists!

They were forced to do that without any other options. College athletes willingly enter into a contract and receive tuition plus books and tutors, furnished apartment with all bills paid, gourmet food, health care which includes physical, mental, dental, orthodontics, eye care and they get access to top notch exercise equipment plus world class physical trainers. Add all of that up and that's more than a lot of people that are working full time get paid.
