And another fun fact: all but Dabo coached at LSU at one time.
Mack Brown was on the 1982 team as qb coach.
Jimbo Fisher was oc under Saban and Les.

Which begs the question, does the coach make the program great, or does the program make the coach great?

Why not both?

Instead of trash talking Saban the way so many LSU fans do, you should be thanking the lucky stars that he was there long enough to build your program, because till he came there LSU had won only 1 national title, and that back in the 1950s.

Dang...never knew ole Mack coached at LSU.

It takes the right coach AND the right program.
Obviously Saban is perhaps The GOAT. Orgeron and Miles are good solid coaches that would have never won in another program.
Some programs will spend the rest of eternity looking for “the right guy” and it will never happen.

How is it not FOUR coaches?
Did we forget Jimbo was OC in 2003?

The point is it's a two-way street. Before he came to LSU his winning percentage was in the sixties and he had zero national championships.

no. The point is that no LSU coach between the 1950s and Nick Saban won national titles. Why didn't Dinardo, Archer, Arnsparger win titles?
Nick Saban built the program and Les Miles won a title with Saban's players. If Les Miles or LSU was the reason they won that year, then why did LSU eventually fire him?

Yes I think he gets your point that you want to attribute LSU’s success to bama since Saban coaches at bama just like you would attribute Clemsons because dabo played at bama. His point is that Saban couldn’t reach mark dantonio levels at Michigan state but becomes a household name because of the talent pool in Louisiana

you're trying to spin away from the point.
The implication is that LSU made these coaches that produced these titles, and my contention is that Nick Saban built the program. Otherwise Dinardo, Archer, Hallman, or at least some other coach would have won national titles between 1950s and Nick Saban. If LSU made Les Miles a national title winning coach, why did they fire him?

I’d say that makes the point. Mike archer who hasn’t even been able to be a mediocre DC won the sec at Lsu. Dinardo never had a winning season before or after Lsu but got to 10-2.
