Georgia-Tennessee a much bigger rivalry than Georgia-South Carolina.

It is not a bigger rivalry in any sense of the word.

I don't see South Carolina and Missouri anywhere on that list. I guess that indicates their relevance in the overall scheme of things,

sure we hate them. we hated them so much we annexed land - to protect us from the Spaniards in Florida over a century ago - using Oglethorpe's debtors & less fortunates boated in from England.

we do not think of it as a 'rivalry' ...it's a border clash. we've played Georgia for decades and there's history - but Gamecocks don't think of them as a 'rival'. we see it as "oh shite - we have to deal with these people this week". Same with Tennessee.

South Carolina has 1 'rivalry' game - and it's a blood feud that's played out every November on Palmetto soil.

If everyone is Tennessee's rival and they are wearing prison orange... does that make their rivals the police or the prison guards.

It will never be a tier one rivalry, but MSU/AU has been interesting the past 10 years in football and baseball.

As far as pure hatred MSU-OM in all sports is tier 1. Success doesn’t diminish that at all.

Honestly the most heated egg bowls were when neither team was very good because we had nothing else to be happy about other than beating our rival

I've been around longer than 1990. Tennessee is a bigger rival than South Carolina.

I see LSU listed in several tiers, but don't see LSU-Auburn. Kinda funny how that's the case, as that's been a great series. But there's just not a lot of animosity, more just respect

Tier 2: Alabama - Tennessee, Mississippi State - Ole Miss, Tennessee - Florida, Georgia - Tennessee

One of these is not like the others, the level of hate of the egg bowl alone makes it tier one. Yes, both schools have historically sucked at football, but there is no doubt the Egg Bowl is a tier 1 rivalry in the conference. The teams hate each other like no other two schools except maybe Bama-AU.

It is also the longest-running rivalry in the conference and one of the longest running in the country. That is just football, you can move to baseball where the two teams are good and there is real hate there.

There is a reason there is a thing called an Egg Bowl thread on this board.

If I was 10 yrs old, I’d say Vandy/ Tennessee.

Vanderbilt owned us until 1926 and we owned them for the next 90+ years following. They're due a few wins.

In all seriousness, even when the series has been lopsided (which is 90 percent of the last 90+ years) it has been a heated game. It's not a great rivalry for outside spectators but because the game is usually the last game of the year the players, especially on Vandy's side go all out. Some of the most vicious football hits and general ish I've witnessed has been at UT-Vandy games.

I must concur. Rivalries are measured by the level of hate. Army and Navy are irrelevant to the national championship picture, and yet everyone agrees it's a major rivalry. Army HATES to lose to Navy, and vice versa. Ole Miss-Miss St. is at least tier 1B. The only rivalries involving more hate would be Alabama-Auburn, Florida-Georgia, and Auburn-Georgia.

I hate Notre Dame, doesn’t make us rivals with them. They’re our most important division game and the only SEC team we have any history with before joining the conference

This really isn’t hard to figure out.

Pretty solid list, but LSU aTm is quickly approaching tier 2 if not tier 1.

Ole Miss and state deserve Teir 1 and anyone else would agree. Also if you are going to throw old rivalries out there like Tennessee and Bama you might as well include the Magnolia Bowl (LSU and Ole Miss)

Does anybody know which one of these games CBS has seen fit to broadcast in primetime every year since 2011?
