FWIW he thinks it's more probable than not that Jimbo becomes our next HC. His article on Monday or Tuesday after the firing should be more telling but he essentially called his shot a couple days ago. He usually isn't very liberal with predictions so the fact that he came out with this is intriguing.

There is a thread on TexAgs that hasn’t been taken down, and it mimics what I heard months ago. Sumlin was supposed to be out last year, but BMA’s balked. Woodward has been working on this for quite awhile now

Honestly, I'm just glad we're swinging for the fences this time. It sounds like Patterson and Peterson will get calls if Jimbo falls through.
If we strike out on all those, someone like Frost or Morris would be fine with me. The bottom line is we know what Sumlin is, and we have to hope for better. I'm just glad our first call isnt to UH this time.

Well... that's true now I guess.
But once upon a time, back before there was a pay board and a Billy's Secret Decoder Ring board/info service and there was just ONE football discussion board that everyone was on (and thus there was no moderator motive to supress good free info) there actually were legit leaks and insider info on there.
But now, yeah, not saying it's impossible, but I'm VERY skeptical of what I read there.
There was a guy called Bayside posting over there for the past 6 months at least with all the stars and flair claiming to be an insider. He stated emphatically several times that no SEC school would approach Chip Kelly and that it was a 100% fact that the conference had told everyone he couldn't be touched. LOL. Now 100% proven competely false and the guy hasn't been heard from since. That's how it goes over there. Not even all the stars and tags will prevent someone from taking the board on a big bullshite LARP adventure.

I told people before this year started that even with 9 wins Sumlin might get canned. He was as close as a coach can come to being fired without it actually happening last December. As I've heard it, talks with lawyers had actually occurred over the buyout. He was feeling for other jobs for several weeks after the LSU game.
Apart from a shocking run this year he wasnt coming back. You can't put the genie back in the bottle.

Hypothetically, if sumlin were to be let go Saturday after the game or Sunday. How soon is a new coach typically announced? In the case if jimbo I’d have to imagine it would be fairly soon considering their season is done after Saturday as well, and they don’t have playoffs or bowl game to try and manage.

Oh but it's not. They rescheduled LA Monroe for 12/2 to try to become bowl eligible so if it's Jimbo, we won't know for sure until the 3rd.
