Serious question as well. Coming out of Spring, what are your biggest Strengths and Weakness on your FB team. You guys seem to be pretty pumped going into the year.

Not a LSU fan, but IMO their biggest concern is whether Etling can put them on his back and win a game if/when they need him to. Their D and run game will handle most of their games, but there will be at least one game when they need Etling to elevate his performance.

I agree. Can he get LSU down the field passing the ball with the game on the line?

Strengths:

Dline- Arden Key is a freak show, we get Lac back and Rashard Lawrence/ Ed Alexander have All SEC potential

Oline- PFF ranked LSU the best in the SEC last year and we return KJ Malone, Will Clapp, Maea and Toby Weathersby.

Secondary- Huge surprise. DBU

Running back- Guice is the best back in the conference.

Weakness:

Linebackers- Depth is awful due to Steele and Chavis. Devin White will be the best LB in the SEC this year though

QB- Etling doesn't have a very strong arm. Hopefully Canada can hide it.

i think he can if he has time. if the oline looks like a wet paper bag, he is dead in the water.

On defense:

-We're loaded in the secondary but there will be new faces emerging with Adams, White, Thomas, etc leaving. SS Ed Paris was a 5 star S at one point and FS John Battle started when Rickey Jefferson went down last year. Eric Monroe, Grant Delpit, and Jacoby Stephens will all compete for these spots.

-Replacing the ILBs with Devin White and Donnie Alexander who played a ton last year so there won't be much drop off.

-The battle for F linebacker will be interesting with 6th year senior Corey Thompson and sophomore Michael Divinity.

-Defensive line is very experienced and deep and isn't a concern. The starters will likely be all 5 year seniors in LaCouture, Gilmore, and Herron. Edwin Alexander and Rashard Lawrence are two sophomores to watch out for.

On offense:

-OL will be shuffled around with Pocic and Boutte departing. KJ Malone returns at LT and Weathersby will likely be the RT. Clapp will slide into the C spot and Teuhema will resume as either LG or RG.

-WR corps is relatively inexperienced but talented. #1 is DJ Chark who started last year. From there, you have the giants Sullivan and Anderson, the freak Drake Davis, and the speedy Derrick Dillon. Russell Gage is also a guy with lots of experience who will contribute heavily. WR corps shouldn't be a problem.

-RB is headlined by Guice but Williams and Brossette are both capable.

-FB/H-back will be JD Moore who is a beast.

-TE is interesting but Foster Moreau and Caleb Roddy will be solid run blockers while Jacory Washington and Jamal Pettigrew are more of receivers.

-QB will be Etling unless someone emerges in the fall. He will thrive in Canada's system.

Overall there's not many weaknesses but a lot of unknown guys.

Not anymore

I'll just go into the weaknesses...

QB Play. I really think you're going to see a more balanced attack. I think that will result in more points (and blowouts).

Just depends which Danny Etling we see.

Will it be Texas A&M Etling or Auburn Etling?

A lot of Tiger fans will just be pleased to not be in the I-form anymore. A spread attack predicated on team's weaknesses will result in a much improved offesnse

Defense will be elite again and probably best in SEC and if players develop and injury big doesn't hit hard maybe the country.

Offensively we just don't know but they are going to try a more open passing orientated attack using multiple formations and sets.

I think we will look unbeatable at times and then like crap the next game. But will be unpredictable as Trump this year which will have its advantages.

I have us at 10-11 wins counting the bowl game

I hate that people say etling doesn't have a strong arm. He has a good enough arm and he makes good decisions. Brandon harris had a hell of an arm but he wasnt worth a shite as a qb. Etling has a decent arm. How many times do you want to throw a hail mary? His chemistry with his recievers is going to be key...the oline will be good.

A lot of strengths but I can't think of a weakness. Nothing but grown men.

Yep. Give me an accurate and high IQ QB over a rocket arm guy every day of the week.

He did it twice last year. Auburn....Miles no time left.
Florida........Last play from 1 running back goes the wrong way.

I like that Matt Canada has an excellent track record of churning out big seasons for mediocre quarterbacks.

LSU fired Peveto, so our special teams will only improve from being the worst unit in the conferene.

the defense will be pretty loaded, and Aranda gets another year to fully implement his system.

I'm thinking anywhere from 9-4/11-2 with our brutal road schedule. LSU is screwed if Guice goes down over an injury

Depends on which O-line we see: Texas A&M/Arky or Auburn/Bama O-line.

Note: I fell in love with Auburn Danny. Showed toughness and leadership and led what was literally a half second short of a game-winning drive.

Etling will be workmanlike in the upcoming fall.

The PFF Staff are delusional frickers if they think LSU has the best OL in the SEC. Not even remotely close. Most of them aren't even SEC caliber OL's. Fournette and Guice made them look much better than they actual are. Below average pass blockers and they miss too many assignments at critical times in big games. Got dominated by Bama and Floridas's DL................
