starting to think Payne is as good a player as anybody on the team.

Yeah that was evident last year

Did Tony Brown play Saturday? I haven't had time to go back and watch all of the game where I can pay attention, but I don't remember seeing him. And with the long run backs on special teams, that makes me think he wasn't in.
Any news? Or did I just sleep thru the game.

Here is a nice little stat

One last stat, I swear this will be it. Eddie Jackson, the Crimson Tide's version of Ed Reed, has more total yardage returning punts and interceptions (287) and more touchdowns (three) than LSU's Malachi Dupre has as the Tigers' top receiving target. Just as a reminder, Dupre was voted a second-team All-SEC wide receiver back in August.

I'm sure that factoid introduced on the SECr would elicit absolutely no reaction...

Just watching a story about Holcombe on ESPNU and did not realize he also plays baseball for UA

I believe Holcombe has the talent to start in the next 2 years.
Very rangy for his size. A lot of competition though...

He was a major contributor for Alabama baseball this past season.

Remember all the moaning when we signed holcombe, too skinny, white lb, etc..? when if you just watched his film he was lighting fools up like the waterboy. And then all the excitement over guys like that juco db several years ago that was supposed to be the best thing ever who left like 2 days into practice, contributing to that talent dry spell we went through at corner?

Yep, Travell Dixon.
True freshman Geno Smith jumped him and he up and quit.

That right there is indicative of the strides this team has made in terms of talent in the secondary. I realize Geno started (and performed remarkably well) last year as a savvy veteran safety, but no way Geno Smith, John Fulton, or Deon Belue are starters on this team.

Bama's CB recruiting from 11-13 was pretty bad, Bama landing some pretty good safeties in that time though, Ha Ha and Landon.

And Vinnie

Completely forgot about Vinnie. I wish he would have come back for his senior year in 14.

To be fair, 2011 and 2012 didn't have a lot of depth at corner. We definitely missed out in 2013, and you can't help but wonder if we would've flipped Ramsey had Pruitt stayed. We also would've kept DeMarcus Walker and added Nate Andrews.

Also you look at HS stars like KSheffield MSmith who did not pan out.
